GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (AP) - An elementary school bus driver was fired after sharing a statistic she had read about embryonic stem cell research with students, then encouraging them to tell their parents about it.

This is precisely what I'm talking about. I know the admins want to clean up this kind of abuse of the system, but it's difficult to prove.
You keep chasing that unicorn if it makes you happy. I'm the guy who was here long before you came along, and I'll be here long after you're gone.
I get the feeling that the only argument you will accept is one that agrees with your viewpoint. I have a feeling you'll find flaws with any others. Am I correct?
ESCR is not a dirty topic. It's a dirty deed.
That is correct. And if it is against policy for bus drivers to 'teach' the riders of their buses, then it would be a bad thing to do so.
You would expect employees to adhere to policy, would you not?
"Now don't blame me if I am a little, (a lot (no a whole heck of a lot)) patronizing."
Oh, I understand. People generally revert to being patronizing when they have no real basis to their argument.
Oh, they would. The Cupertino, California school district is messing with a history teacher because he passed out copies of the Declaration. It references God, don't you know, very, very dangerous...
I think you owe the lady an apology. It would also be good to explain why you think she shouldn't be able to say something about stem cells without being fired.
You say that Jesus is not propaganda. Jews think it is. Mormon's think it is. Each person has a right to their own religious beliefs. If someone doesn't believe in your religion are they wrong?
But with bears, we do it when we are winning.
You seem a bit bitter about my audacity in making a value judgment on what is reasonable. Even mocking me about thinking my judgment is the only universal standard.
Interesting. After much debate, no post (that I've seen) on your side has weighed in on whether or not the actions of the bus driver were reasonable in themselves--without the context of the rights of the parents, or the limitations of being a bus driver, or something about tax money.
I never meant to disinvest anyone from weighing in on it, you avoided it by your own accord. After so many posts, I have to take this as an admission that you are wrong.
Unless, as others desperately invested in your side of the argument have asserted, that parents have some kind of absolute right to control what their kids here in the public schools
Now you are even calling people on your own side of the arguments names. Dianna may have been mistaken when she insisted that either the parents or the state have control over what their kids are exposed to, and she did make it very clear there was no other possible alternatives...and she therefore concluded the right should go to the parents.
This may be a silly fallacious argument, but it does not mean she either made of straw, nor does it mean she is really a man!
After all, Andy Knows Best
Not always. I am quite fallible. Like a few posts back when I took "my ursine friend" to be an insult--later I looked it up and found it meant "bear like"--appropriate considering my screen name (and understandably I expect you will point this out in a post I have not read yet). So no I am certainly not always right. Just because you are getting creamed in this debate does not mean I'm arrogant.
Absolutely, when I find flaws in my arguments I change my view point. Don't you?
I made a huge blunder by assuming you insulted me before I looked ursine up in the dictionary. So I went to bed last night expecting to wake up to some humble pie, and instead you not only completely miss it, but good gravy: you've just gone and insulted me for real. What gives--but by your own rule, this serves as a white flag though. Game over man, game over (seriously I have some overdue code to write)...
John 14:6 - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (emphasis added)
Acts 26:12-15 - Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me. And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
Yes, I do, but I'm not wrong this time. You might want to examine your argument a bit more closely. ;-)
Dream on, Alice. You'll get to Wonderland some day.
By the way, you didn't answer the question. Do you expect employees to adhere to policies set forth by their employers?
I have examined my arguments, quite methodically, and I do not see any flaws at this time. If you really see any, I honestly would like to know--though I'm even more dubious of the carefulness of your own thinking after your ironic embrace of traits you seemed to think were negative when you recently suggested I had them.
Sorry about this. My answer is, unfortunetly, both tedius, obvious, and pedestrian, and I think you will find it does not help your argument.
The short answer is sometimes. The long explination is that sometimes an employee does not follow policies. Usually this means the employee is out of line, but some times it means the policy is out of line. In both cases out of line can be in the context of cultural morality, religious morality, social morality, lawful morality, or some other standard.
This all brings us back to where we started, which is whther or not the policy or employee was out of line in this case.
Any other tedius journeys of explaining the obvious will make bears (who have code to write, and shouldn't really be looking back on this thread, excepting they can't help themselves) even more patronizing.
AndyTheBear feels obliged to patronize MEGoody, therefore Mrs Mayor was out of line. I suppose that might make sense in Wonderland, but as imply, I'm not there yet.
