Two intoxicated female British tourists who were sexually assaulted by their Jerusalem Arab taxi driver fended him off with blows which left him hospitalized, police said Tuesday.
The incident, which took place late Sunday night, began after the two tourists, who are in their 20's, were picked up by the driver from the city's popular Underground Disco and asked to be driven to the youth hostel in the Jerusalem community of Shoresh.
On the way, the driver pulled over on a darkened patch of the road, and started to commit an indecent sexual act on one of the tourists, police said.
The two fought back, beating the driver and even damaging his cab.
The surprised driver – who was so badly beaten that he required medical treatment at Jerusalem's Hadassah University Hospital at Ein Kerem – was placed under arrest.
He was later released on bail.
The two tourists involved in the incident were questioned by police, and are still in Israel, police said.
Clearly, they were not wearing the hajib. Hence women of easy virtue. And being a good muslim, and a littly horney he thought, Oh why not?
They're not so tough when they don't have a bomb strapped to their backs and threatening to blow themselves up. . . . =-O
Haaretz reported them as being Irish.

Before my wife and I met, she and her college roommate were planning on travelling through Europe after they graduated. They even talked to a travel agent about it. He immediately advised both of them to buy rings that looked like wedding bands and wear them whereever they went. He said that if they didn't, the Muslim guys would be hitting on them every minute of the day.
They ended up not going, thank God.

What absurdly xenophobic paranoia - about as realistic as the urban myth current here in England that you shouldn't take a tourist trip to Florida because if your hire car breaks down you're likely to be shot by the first passer-by you ask for help (just because it once happened to someone)

These girls were probably thinking, "I'm not getting on an airliner, he is not supposed to be feeling me up!"
He should consider himself lucky. If one of the women were armed, this story would have had a happier ending.
Several foreign tourists were targeted in Florida. Of course, rental companies putting their logo on the back of cars helps to tip off the local criminal element.
The travel agent was an idiot. Unmarried American women travel all over Europe all the time without incident.

Sure. And a couple of the really high-profile cases actually involved foreign tourists who had gone into the bad parts of town to buy drugs.
A little realism is all I ask for. The notion that non-Muslim women here in England fear to appear in public without a wedding ring lest they be sexually assaulted by a Muslim is frankly ludicrous. In the probability list of potential hazards which might be encountered it appears somewhere between being struck by lightning and an asteroid strike. Most of the minority Muslim population (just look at that pie-chart again), most of the time, choose to conform to the public social norms of the British society in which they live, whatever their private or mosque-life beliefs might be. The risks of being raped by a white, anglo-saxon British male are far higher. I'm very sorry that your daughter missed the chance to come to Europe because of this sort of nonsense - she missed a great experience. I don't want to minimise for one moment the real dangers of Islam, but let's have a little realism please.

I'm not sure where people in the US got the impression that Europe is overrun with Muslims. Even in Paris, you actually see very few identifiable Muslims on the streets.
