I see from the article that the tin foil hat brigade is already spinning this as further proof that the election was stolen. I'm sure that tonight the two people who watch Olberman will be treated to another diatribe about voter disenfranchisement and promises that other members of the press would get involved if only there was not a news blackout on the subject.

"I find it inconceivable that over 5,000 voters in the county would wait an hour in the pouring rain to vote if they haven't registered,"

Stuff like that happens all the time....a person can think they are registered to vote, but they aren't due to some kind of error on their part or the county clerk. Sheesh, if I hadn't checked on my voter registration when I did, the same thing would have happened to my vote. The clerk had me down under my maiden name and married name....been married almost 7 years now, so don't know how that happened. Anyway, they tossed my registration without telling me....so I had to re-register to vote. These dems are just so delusional and desperate, they will say and do anything to change the election results.

My God I live in Ohio and did not know we had such and influx of Southern Floridians over the past four years.

I'm surprised it was only 1 out of 3 rejected. That says to me the county elections office has some serious problems if 2 out of 3 provisional ballot voters are properly registered but were for some reason left off the voter rolls.

"I find it inconceivable that over 5,000 voters in the county would wait an hour in the pouring rain to vote if they haven't registered,"

That's why it's called voter fraud and stupidity. If you don't know or care enough to register prior to election day, you don't deserve the right to vote that day or to have your vote counted.

What is wrong with this picture? Let's assume I'm a new person to Cuyahoga County.

IT'S ELECTION DAY. I GO TO VOTE FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I'VE MOVED TO THIS DISTRICT. I'M NOT SURE IF I'M VOTING AT THE RIGHT PLACE.

I SEE THAT THERE IS A FIVE HOUR LINE OUTSIDE THE DOORS. DO I:

A. WAIT IN LINE
B. FIND OUT IF THIS IS WHERE I AM SUPPOSED TO BE BEFORE WAITING FIVE HOURS IN LINE
C. COME BACK LATER IN THE DAY, WHEN THE LINE MAY BE A LITTLE SHORTER
D. VOTE IN THE WRONG PRECINCT AND LET THEM FIGURE IT OUT.

ANSWER:B & C ARE CORRECT. BEFORE WAITING IN LINE CHECK FIRST TO SEE IF I'M AT THE RIGHT VOTING SITE.

I'M TOLD THAT THIS IS NOT WHERE I AM SUPPOSED TO VOTE. DO I:

A. LEAVE AND GO HOME
B. GIVE THEM MY ADDRESS SO THEY CAN DIRECT ME TO THE CORRECT POLLING PLACE.

ANSWER: B

Id be interested to know how many of the 8,099 provisional ballots were Kerry votes? Any guesses out there?

nick

...professors and others who were active in voter registration drives made it clear that the board's decision won't quell the lingering disquiet about the possibility that some legitimate votes won't be counted...

How about the lingering disquiet about the possibility that some illegitimate votes will be counted?

"I find it inconceivable that over 5,000 voters in the county would wait an hour in the pouring rain to vote if they haven't registered," said Dr. Norm Robbins, a neurosciences professor...

I find it inconceivable that a supposedly educated man would be so naive regarding human behavior.

I also find it inconceivable that a PhD. professor doesn't have better things to do with his time at the end of a semester. Perhaps Dr. Robbing ride on the gravy train should be cut short so he can find a real job that requires his presence.

And I find it inconceivable that a person schooled in neuroscience could demonstrate such abject stupidity.

I find it inconceivable that thousands of people would wait an hour in the pouring rain to honor the opening of the Clinton Library and Massage Parlor. So there, we're even.

Provisional ballots are mainly given to people who are not registered to vote in the precinct they are trying to vote in. We had about 12 at our voting precinct where I worked on election day. Only one was counted. People move and forget to change their voter's registration. It was on the news for MONTHS before the election, to make sure you are registered thirty days before the election. My daughter drove home to vote, since she was still registered here. She is a college student. At the Republican HQ we had maps on the wall that showed people where they should vote. One of our volunteers even colored the map with color pencils, to show you where your house is, and where your polling place was. Anyone who was trying to vote, without making sure they were registered, got a provisional ballot. This will put them on the rolls in THAT precinct for the next election. That was the main thing we were doing with prov. ballots, getting the people registered for the next election. We required photo ID.

As county elections workers stood watch over a hand truck bearing 10 boxes stuffed with invalidated ballots, an ensemble of lawyers, professors and others who were active in voter registration drives made it clear that the board's decision won't quell the lingering disquiet about the possibility that some legitimate votes won't be counted...

Probably the most obscene distortion of citizen participation in self government. It's mind-boggling that grownups and presumed professionals would continue to beat this dead horse.
Even more amazing is that we allow them to.

The Star Wars puerile attack all over again: If it's not perfect, it's not acceptable.
How can that societal petulance be so obvious to us and invisible to them?

Here's the antidote to that SM* attack; it's only 98% effective. Feel free not to participate.

Now let's see. Most voter registration cards include your name, party affliation and precinct where you are supposed to vote. That's not hard, is it? I've got three words for the bumbling idoots who can't do it right:

"READING IS FUNDAMENTAL"

This guy is a moron, I personally know of a good little leftist lawyer in Cleveland who had recently moved but never notified the board of elections. She went to her new precinct and they told her flat out that she needed to go vote at her old one. When she refused they gave her a provisional ballot, which I'm sure has been disqualified and rightly so.

The area is very transient, lot's of those people move once a year. It's not surprising that they don't have the sense that god gave them to either notify the elections board or vote in the proper precinct.

We had one angry man try to force us to let him vote. He was NOT registered. He was angry. He was short. I coulda taken him. He was mean and hateful to his wife. I believe he is abusive, judging from her injuries. She was on crutches. He was yelling at her because she left the cell phone in the truck. He told us "I just got off work and You are messing with a short tempered man!" My 20 year old body builder son was by my side, so that was good. There were three other men working with us, too. So we weren't scared or intimidated. The man was NOT registered to vote in that precinct. We offered to call to find out where he should vote and he wouldn't wait for us to do that. He left to go to another precinct. We heard later that he stormed in there already angry. He didn't get to vote there either. He kept telling them "Just give me a damn piece of paper and let me vote!" We don't know if he was drunk or not. But he sure was angry. As far as we know he didn't get to vote. He should make sure he is registered before the next election. LOL

Really, I had to go to three different places before I could vote because my polling place had been changed and I had not been notified. Not Fraud, just poor communication by the Clerk's office and by me for NOT CHECKING BEFORE I went to vote. But I got to vote and that's what counts.

You have got to be kidding me.

I know of several people who, when I asked if they were going to vote, after they said yes, I asked them "are you registered"?

I got a look as if I had three heads.

"You mean I can't just show up and vote"
