What is wrong with this picture? Let's assume I'm a new person to Cuyahoga County.

IT'S ELECTION DAY. I GO TO VOTE FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I'VE MOVED TO THIS DISTRICT. I'M NOT SURE IF I'M VOTING AT THE RIGHT PLACE.

I SEE THAT THERE IS A FIVE HOUR LINE OUTSIDE THE DOORS. DO I:

A. WAIT IN LINE
B. FIND OUT IF THIS IS WHERE I AM SUPPOSED TO BE BEFORE WAITING FIVE HOURS IN LINE
C. COME BACK LATER IN THE DAY, WHEN THE LINE MAY BE A LITTLE SHORTER
D. VOTE IN THE WRONG PRECINCT AND LET THEM FIGURE IT OUT.

ANSWER:B & C ARE CORRECT. BEFORE WAITING IN LINE CHECK FIRST TO SEE IF I'M AT THE RIGHT VOTING SITE.

I'M TOLD THAT THIS IS NOT WHERE I AM SUPPOSED TO VOTE. DO I:

A. LEAVE AND GO HOME
B. GIVE THEM MY ADDRESS SO THEY CAN DIRECT ME TO THE CORRECT POLLING PLACE.

ANSWER: B

Id be interested to know how many of the 8,099 provisional ballots were Kerry votes? Any guesses out there?

nick

99% of our prov. ballots were not registered in that precinct. So they weren't counted. Some had moved here from another county. It only takes one phone call to find out where to go vote.

Actually, you should have stopped at your first sentence. I recently moved from Texas to Florida (2003). I registered to vote when I changed my driving license. About three weeks after I registered, I got my voter registration card that gives all the information about precinct, congressional district, location of voting, etc. In January, I moved to another location in the same town, I took the portion of the voter registration card that dealt with address change filled it out, detached it and send it to the Board of Elections. Within a week I had my new voter registration card with all the new info on it. I decided to take advantage of the "early voting" process in Florida, so I went online to the Florida State site, and found where county residents had to go to "early vote". I then called the Board of Elections in my county to double check on the voting sites. They confirmed the sites and voting times. I then went ahead and voted, standing in line for about twenty minutes, handing my voter registration card and photo driver's license to the poll workers there. I signed the necessary paperwork, and voted on the touch screen machine. It was so simple my grandkids could do it with their eyes closed. My point is, that voting is both a right and privilege, therefore it is incumbent on the voter to engage their brain and make certain where and when they are so supposed to go, long before they cast their ballot!!! When I see huge numbers of ballots discarded for administrative reasons, it usually indicates more so, that people are idiots, rather than that fraud has taken place. IMHO, folks that don't care enough about voting to find out where they should be voting, should not be voting at all!!!

I don't think that they are even allowed to open the envelope to count it if it is determined to be invalid. All the info needed to determine validity is on the outside.
