A SIXTH DEER HUNTER HAS DIED OF WOUNDS SUFFERED IN A SHOOTING IN NORTHWESTERN WISCONSIN.
THE SIXTH HUNTER'S FAMILY RELEASED A STATEMENT THROUGH LAKEVIEW MEDICAL CENTER IN RICE LAKE, SAYING 55-YEAR-OLD DENNY DREW DIED AT ST. JOSEPH HOSPITAL IN MARSHFIELD.
HE WAS AMONG EIGHT PEOPLE WOUNDED IN THE SHOOTING THAT BROKE OUT, APPARENTLY AFTER A HUNTER WAS TOLD TO LEAVE A TREE STAND ON PRIVATE PROPERTY YESTERDAY.
FIVE OF THE VICTIMS DIED AT THE SCENE.
DREW WAS AMONG THREE OTHERS WOUNDED. THE OTHER TWO REMAIN HOSPITALIZED.
CHAI VANG OF ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA IS IN CUSTODY PENDING FORMAL CHARGES IN THE CASE.
The MSM and the Mediots (even on fox) tried to represent it unheard of that a semi-automatic SKS was used in hunting. There were guests who quickly correcte the misinformation.
(I still found out the better and more accurate information on FR faster than any other news source.)
BTW any more info on the shooter?
A horrible, warped, sick, senseless tragic crime is being politicized as a gun control issue. I wonder how those dead hunters would feel about being used by the anti-gun groups? On TMJ4 in Milwaukee, the reporter described the gun as an "automatic assault" weapon. In Madison, the gun was described as a "high powered assault weapon". And every hunter I know says that the SKS uses a weaker round than most deer rifles. High powered compared to what? Not compared to another deer rifle, apparently.
The Deputy Chief of Sawyer County first described the SKS as a "common deer rifle", quoted in the Appleton Post Crescent. In the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, he called it an "uncommon" gun. In the Kansas City Star, it was an "assault rifle". What the hell. Those hunters would be dead no matter what rifle that nut used.
Did this guy understand English?
Yeah, he does. He doesn't have any problem with it.
You got it! He crossed state lines and did this! Thats a Federal crime.
I would doubt PTSD, he was only thirty-six years old. Apparently he did have a criminal recrod though
Apparently he was in the Loatian Army.
Thanks for the ping Ladysmith. I heard the report on Fox News a little earlier. This is very sad.
Even Fox is calling the SKS an "Assault Weapon" in the crawl under the picture. We need a minor FReep to set them straight.
So sad. Prayers.
I suspect this was the fellow that was shot in the guts..for lack of a better way to put it. BAD way to go that one and very hard to treat. Infection sets in because of all the contents in there.
This is really a terrible event. I hope they hang the bastard who did this from a light pole.
Thanks for letting me know. How very, very sad.
In the media's mind, and that includes Fox News, every gun is an "assault weapon".
On another thread, I saw discussion indicating that perhaps this land wasn't posted.
I would have sworn I read earlier today that the property was clearly posted with No Trespassing or No Hunting signs.
Have you read anything today to clarify this question?
He had a short criminal history, with an arrest for threatening his wife with a gun a few years ago, and a couple of visits to his house for domestic disputes.
This is not being portrayed here in MN as a gun control issue. Just a sad tragedy.
Yes, I did, I'd have to look for it. They were very clear in the writing and during the conference today that the land was very cleary marked with no trespassing signs.
I live in Northeast Wisconsin and just saw the news on this.
The gentleman that died (the 6th victim) was shot twice in the stomach area. One bullet entered his right side and went through to the other.
It is very sad that this happened.
The shooter has lived in our country for 25 yrs.
He is 36yrs old and has 6 children.
He has no problem understanding English.
What I don't understand yet, is they have not charged him with anything yet. And from news reports he has yet to ask for a lawyer....hmmmmm.
