On another thread, I saw discussion indicating that perhaps this land wasn't posted.
I would have sworn I read earlier today that the property was clearly posted with No Trespassing or No Hunting signs.
Have you read anything today to clarify this question?

Yes, I did, I'd have to look for it. They were very clear in the writing and during the conference today that the land was very cleary marked with no trespassing signs.

Depending on state law, that may or may not be required. Here in Michigan, for instance, farm land, and/or wooded areas bordering farm land, do not have to be fenced or posted.
The man was told he was on private property, and was asked to leave. His response was to murder 6 people. In this case, whether or not the property was posted is irrelevant.
