I don't know if it was routine or not. As I remember, we flew from my home town to a sort of military hub, and from there to Dallas, and from there to San Antonio. It was pretty much an all day (and night) thing. I do remember that they let us sleep in the following morning.

Blue, you will also enjoy your free day in SA. Don't miss the River Walk (Rivah Walk, as it is known there) and the Alamo. I don't know if you have ever seen the Alamo, but it was somewhat disappointing to me (although not as much so as it was for the Americans who fought there) because it is so small and surrounded by high buildings, city buses, etc. But it is still a must-see.

Best wishes!

Thanks, Cody! No one has ever thought my advice was worthwhile before, LOL!

Man, I miss those days. I wish I believed in reincarnation, because I would come back as a Soldier throughout eternity.

Of course, only forward in time; none of that freezing your toes off and starving to death in General George Washington's Army, or hanging out with General Custer at Wounded Knee, LOL!

Leave a civilian, come back a proud member of the US Air Force!

Make sure you tell your new bride we are proud of her service in the Air Force also.

Of course she is just ahead of you in boot camp.

God Bless You both!

Good luck!

Good luck there. I'm actually PCS'ing down to Randolph in a few months, same general area.

Go enlisted aircrew. Boomers are where it's at. The KC-10 is the Cadillac of air mobility, and the best kept secret in the flying world.
