President Bush stepped into the middle of a confrontation and pulled his lead Secret Service agent away from Chilean security officials who barred his bodyguards from entering an elegant dinner for 21 world leaders Saturday night.
Several Chilean and American agents got into a pushing and shoving match outside the cultural center where the dinner was held. Bush noticed the fracas after posing for pictures on a red carpet with the summit host, Chilean President Ricardo Lagos and his wife and first lady Laura Bush.
Now that you mention it, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't pay a quick visit to Iraq this holiday season, too. What a morale booster -- scary, but no less than what we ask each and every soldier to face.
re:#485, That photo is missing a bald buy petting a white cat.
Of course we can't see what happens in the next 10 seconds. But still, these Secret Service agents don't let anyone get between them and the President, nor let anyone put their hands on them. It's usually down-boom-bad-guy falls, and bad guy stays down awhile.
Here were two Chileans on one Secret Service agent which makes this all look pretty bad.
Fox this am is saying Chilean security and the US secret service had a big hoo ha yesterday, before this incident. Most heads of state don't bring security detail everywhere, evidently. But GW does, of course. This was a big machismo thing by Chile security, who now have a worldwide black eye courtesy of GW. Nice right hook, GW!
Great photos, AmericaninTokyo. I just wish that agent had grabbed one Chilean thumb and turned it a new direction. It's quick, silent and effective. Down goes the Chilean security guards. Agent walks away.
Who is the man in the foreground? He is obviously trying to sheild the incident from the camera. This was planned and coordinated by more than one.
President Bush did foil his own assasination. Is he back home yet?
"The look has my tired brain mushed. It's more than a look of peace and self-confidence. What would call it (besides beautiful)?"
I call it true love, pure and simple. They love each other. They are blessed to have each other, and they both know it.
And a very good point.
I just think if they're getting American support ($$$) they should be protecting him, or at least not hindering our guys from protecting him. Freedom of speech is fine, but our SS agents should certainly be allowed to do thier job, and the host country should make sure they're allowed to.
"President Bush did foil his own assasination."
There would not be enough Chilean's left alive to bury the dead. Have no fear. No Govt is going to ever allow anything to happen to a US Pres on their soil.
Somewhere, someone is mislabeled.
So, what are you trying to say? :)
Just kidding. I agree with you on all points.
I love him.
And GW just kicked their arse big time. Hehehehehehe.
Made, I LOVE that pic of our W! Thanks!
Are you guessing or do you know that for sure?
I saw the full shot of that picture earlier. His lead agent is right beside him as he is getting out of his limo.
The other man, the one holding the limo door is probably another agent.
That PayBack picture will upset Euroweenies and ossified leftist elitists/RATs (oops, Progressives) everywhere!
I am so proud of our President! What a man!
