As for who would win I can say for sure they wouldn't, but that doesn't mean we would. I'd say it would come down to nukes.

I simply can't imagine what circumstances would lead to such a realignment. It's an unreal question.

I can maybe visualize some future war with China, with Europe giving some sort of aid to the enemy short of actual fighting. I doubt whether Russia would kick in, because China is more of a threat to them than we are.

Balance of power politics makes it very unlikely, IMHO.
