Israel racist? Huh? They got Jews from Ethiopia, from Yemen, from India, from the West, all living together along with a large number of CHRISTIAN Arabs (who are treated pretty well). What does the schmuck mean "racist"???

Thank you for the ping to this most important review of a dangerous book.

Molly:
Please review this article and see if you believe it worthy of being pinged to the ATRW list early tomorrow. I think it is. It is not time-critical, though.

I read this last night and it kept me awake for a while. This article has been sent to a lot of people in my e-mail book so they all know what we're up against in the bureaucracy. This kind of thinking makes the French version of appeasement look strong.

Mo1 gave me this one last night; I printed it out and read it and had bad dreams all night:

I am AMAZED at the thought that this guy was anywhere NEAR a position where he could even PASS ON information, much less form policy.

I've read a lot of stuff over the years; that's one of the scariest.

Michael Scheuer, a veteran CIA analyst who headed the Agency's bin Laden unit in the late 1990s.

That alone puts his credibility at zero. He should have been fired not allowed to retire and sell books.

With an idiot like this in charge is there any wonder that Clinton was clueless about OBL.

Hopefully his ilk will be fleeing the light Goss is shining into the crevices like roachs from the morning sun.

Presumably he will be arguing that OBL can be trusted with nuclear weapons. It is amazing the idiots that walk among us.

How can the CIA get any worse than actively engaging in overt, open treason while simultaneously bungling their day jobs of knowing what the rest of the world is doing?!

Would we call deliberate acts just bungling? That's where I'm ending up in my thinking.

I don't care how many ways you slice up bin Laden's motives for analysis, the fact is that he and his would set civilization back hundreds of years. There is nothing redeeming about his objectives and no policy of ours worth reviewing under his terms.

The Middle East was used in the Cold War and it's being used again by the left. The left often reveals itself in their charges. When they screamed that Iraq was about oil, what they meant to say is that they wanted control of a resource they could use to drive us to our knees.

And I find it telling that he calls Israel a "theocracy."

People throw the word "theocracy" around, and most don't even know what it means. Israel isn't nearly a theocracy - it's not even close. But it was put in place as a safe haven for Jews, and America must continue to stand by her.

I would like to know who gave Michael Scheuer permission to publish his book as "anonymous". Whoever it was, he or she needs to be brought up on charges, and Michael Scheuer should be Federal prison.

No, the CIA lets people do that now. I'm sure that this gentleman had permission. Apparently his criticisms have grown to vociferous though, and I think he pretty much got driven out of CIA.

This is the only thing that works with Islam:

If U.S. leaders truly believed that the country is at war with bin Laden and the Islamists, they would dump the terminally adolescent bureaucrats and their threat matrix and tell the voters that war brings repeated and at times grievous defeats as well as victories, and proceed with relentless, brutal, and yes, blood-soaked offensive military actions until we have annihilated the Islamists who threaten us, or so mutilate their forces, supporting populations, and physical infrastructure that they recognize continued war-making on their part is futile.

That was how Spain finally got rid of the Islamic invaders, although it took the Spanish 800 years to achieve it. At the very end, after 1492 (the fall of Grenada), when the Muslim leaders had left or been forcibly expelled, Spain let average Muslims stay and even let some of the former kings remain as mayors of their cities. However, within little more than 100 years, the Muslims were plotting against Spain again, killing Christians in truly horrible ways, and scheming to get foreign Muslims back into power. Spain finally had to expel all Muslims and join in the efforts to repel new attacks launched upon the rest of Europe from Islamic countries, particularly Turkey.
