THE CULTURE WAR HAS BEGUN
DALEY TIMES-POST.COM ^ | NOVEMBER 9, 2004 | JUSTIN DARR

Posted on 11/14/2004 1:57:35 PM PST by CHARLITE

The reelection of President Bush has sent the Democratic Party reeling. How could a President with so many perceived negatives win with such relative ease? The economy is not fantastic, the War in Iraq is not universally popular, health care costs and fuel prices are rising, President Bush smirks and stutters, and the Redskins lost! Why is John Kerry not President today? Additionally, why, in a supposedly ideologically divided electorate, have Republicans defied political convention and steadily increased their majorities at both the Federal and State levels? The truth in undeniable. Americans are beginning to no longer vote in line with individual candidates’ positions on specific issues, but in accordance to their cultural and moral values.

Neither Presidential candidate made cultural values a major issue in their campaign. In fact, Bush made concerted efforts to downplay the same sex marriage and abortion issues, going so far as to give an eleventh hour endorsement of civil unions. Other than a few light weight questions at the debates, the selection of up to four Supreme Court Justices received no attention at all. It is no surprise that Republican and Democrat politicos alike are puzzled by exit poll results that showed concerns for cultural values on a par with the Wars in Iraq and terrorism and healthcare. The American people have taken talk of “family values” out of the arena of the sound bite and placed it front and center as the major issue of the day. The Culture War has begun.

Until now, the Liberal plan to warp America into its version of a European welfare state has advanced unimpeded. Political correctness has become a cultural norm, the forced indoctrination and dumbing down of our school children has become educational dogma, and an oligarchic activist judiciary has usurped the role of the legislature and systematically declared unconstitutional nearly every aspect of traditional American life. As the Liberal elites delighted in their cleverness at redefining the celebration of dysfunction as “tolerance” and oppression of Freedom of Speech as “fairness”, frustrated Americans turned to the only resource left to them, the ballot box.

This was not supposed to happen. The electorate was supposed to base their decisions on the 1000 dead soldiers in Iraq and $2 a gallon gas, not the Left’s 30 year history of duplicity. Now, the true face of liberalism is being exposed. Instead of accepting the loss and looking ahead to the next election, liberals have launched into a psychotic paroxysm of rage and insults unseen in American politics since the aftermath of the Civil War. Major Liberal authors have labeled the voters of “red” states as “ignorant”, “stupid”, and “backward” for doing nothing more than disagreeing with them. American citizens where not voting to protect their right to send a little girl to kindergarten wearing a small gold cross and not be suspended for “violating the separation of church and state”, but in words from the “Berkley Planet”, “the right to yell ‘faggot’ out of their pickups.” There are no words that can properly describe the depths of arrogance, intolerance, insularity and anti-Americanism this widespread response represents.

This is but the opening salvo in the liberals’ counter attack against the expressed will of the electorate. Most contemporary liberals began their political careers in their college days back in the 1960’s. In the ensuing decades, these liberals have successfully pushed their agenda in the expectation that they would pass the staff of their ever so coveted political power to a prefabricated second generation of indoctrinated proto-socialists to continue their work. The 21st Century was to be a new beginning and end. The end of the America the Left hates so badly because of their inability to socialize within it, and the beginning of the god-less, valueless, immoral culture they crave. Instead, they see their life long efforts failing.

The election has shown the Left they are not as successful as they had thought. Traditional American values, morals, and ethics have somehow survived all their stratagems far longer than they anticipated and their biological clocks are ticking. There is no second generation of Socialists because Americans have clung to their pesky habit of making up their own minds and raising their children as they see fit. Now, liberals must try to complete all their goals in the 10 to 15 years they have remaining as an active political force. Americans have seen nothing like what is about to come. Consider that all of the outrageous actions of the Left to date have been when they have perceived they are winning the Culture War and you will understand there will be no limit to the ferocity, deception, and hatred the Left will use in order to achieve their final victory.

Despite post election talk of bipartisanship, there will be none in Washington for the foreseeable future. The leftists who hijacked the Democratic Party in 1968 are realizing their core ideas, not specific policies, were rejected by the American voters. There will be no compromise from the Left because any concession would require they abandon their most fundamental beliefs. In order to cooperate, the left would first have to admit that they might be wrong in a few areas and the rest of America might have a few good points to offer. If one thing is certain about Liberals it is that they are far too arrogant to ever do this. And, even if they were willing to engage in a constructive dialogue, starting it off by calling your opponents a bunch of racist, illiterate, moonshine drinking morons who lack indoor plumbing is hardly the way to do it. Instead, the Democrats will increase their attempts to undermine our way of life, more aggressively pursue their agenda through the Courts, obstruct needed legislation and personally attack anyone who has the audacity to stand in their way.

The Culture War is no longer an idea, but a reality. For the sake of America’s future, it is a battle we must win.

Actually, the best news about Roe V Wade is that it [ironically] suppressed the creation of liberal voters for nearly two generations...at the request of liberals. Who could ask for anything more, indeed??

"And what sent the Democrat Party reeling was the double whammy of sudden confrontation of the delusional with truth and a well-deserved backhanded bitchslap by the American people."

Roger that and remember this is but battle in the war against the lunatic left ~ Bump!

"The Culture War Has Begun"

This strange statement reminds me of the days following 9/11 when Americans were acknowledging that a Terrorism War had begun.

Nonsense!

That War had been going on for many years. The Clinton Administration either didn't recognize that OBL and the Terrorists were at war with us or they recognized it and were afraid to engage!

For decades now, the Culture War has raged. It was raging when:

the ACLU; the National Education Association Union (the largest in America) and its political agenda; Hollywood; People for the American Way; the vast educational bureaucracies in the universities that control teacher training; the liberal media; the liberal law schools and their graduates who became judges--

when all these entities and more, began to do their work at eroding and actually censoring out America's Founding Ideas from the public square, from the nation's textbooks, the Culture War was going on.

Perhaps America's so-called "silent majority" have now been awakened, and they finally are ready to engage in the battle.

It's way past time.

In Germany, in 1933, Hitler burned the books containing the great ideas of liberty and of civilization. Over the past few decades, without lighting a fire, the liberal organizations have been just as efficient in effectively "erasing" the founding ideas from the American mind.

Home schools, private schools, privately funded organizations, and the internet are now enabling many citizens to be exposed to those ideas for the first time, and they like what they've learned.

CBS, NBC, ABC, and the various leftist organizations no longer set the intellectual boundaries for millions of citizens in the so-called "red" or "blue" states.

I can support a man I don't always agree with- I can't support a man I can't trust.

Exactly. Do you think they will ever understand that this is what we meant by "moral values"?

You're so right, Blackie. And these Radical Leftists haven't gotten the message yet. They're still trying to plan strategy--as though that's what failed them. Let's hope they keep it up. We could use a few more seats in congress and a few more state governors.

I kind of doubt it, because in their own way, and in their narrow world, the Left uses stereotypes that would make a Klansman blush in embarrassment.

I voted for the referendum in Georgia affirming that marriage was between a man & a woman- but my wife & I have lived next door to a couple of very civil and pleasant gay women for 17 years- they are decent neighbors.

That is probably so subtle a "nuance" that the Left wouldn't get it at all and just smear us with "hypocrites," but I believe in live & let live, and minding my own business. At least as far as I can, you do have to draw a line somewhere.

Let me put that another way- I have a big problem with activist, unaccountable Judges and 3% of the population trying to force gay marriage on everybody else, consequences be damned. I don't have a problem with a couple of quiet, keep-to-themselves women ( no children involved, just consenting adults ) calling themselves "room-mates" and sharing a house.

I'll give you another example- for some years ( age and health have squelched it ) we had an across-the-street neighbor who liked to sit on his porch and fire up a joint when he got off work every evening... you'd look over there, and there's Ole Tom, toking away on the wacky smelly weed... and yes, it's illegal, but it's just not the same thing as having a junkie's habit that forces you to steal from your neighbors. If Tom was harming anyone, it was only himself. As long as he kept it on his own porch, I was not interested in giving him a hard time about it.

The Left loves to toss about sound bites, "gotchas," and all-purpose slanders that sound bright, but which are shallow and facile upon examination-- one of their favorites is the we on the right inhabit an "echo chamber" with the alternative media and our forums.

What this is, however, is classic projection- the real echo chamber is not flyover country, but rather the big-city media hives where everyone thinks alike.

One thing I've noticed is that liberals are not ready to engage in an actual debate or defend their ideology. Their candidates are similarly weak. Bush has been hardened by being assaulted hundreds of times. Kerry, on the other hand, became apoplectic when his previous lies were challenged. His stories about atrocities, his "Christmas in Cambodia" story, his association with a group of individuals whose credentials as veterans were never examined, all went for years unchallenged by the old media.

The amatuerish forgeries of national guard documents would have worked even fifteen years ago. Rather would have run with the lies, and like murderers, the rest of the press would have covered up for him. Rather and his ilk positioned themselves in such a way that no one could challenge their stories. They talked, you listened. They ignored feedback. Rather would never subject himself to the same hostile interviews that he believed were his right to inflict. Secure in his fortress, he fired volleys at his enemies, but never came out to face anyone in a free forum. He still tried to play that game with his pathetic "if the documents are forgeries, we want to break the story" routine. The Cronkites, Rathers, and NYTimes clones no longer have exclusive access to the public megaphone. Other voices can be heard, now.
