Ain't that the truth.

According to a friend who investigates this stuff, they'll probably find ample documentation.
Yep. There's almost no possible setup more effective for immediately discrediting someone in the court of public opinion. Be interesting to see how this plays out.
CP is sick! Think about this...the priests who molested little boys...that to me is sicker. First of all is the obvious pedophilia, but then you add the homosexuality, but then...the icing on the cake...you add the hypocrisy of it being a priest! This is the sickest of the sick. However I had much rather them catch the people who distribute this stuff than those who possess it. Not saying the possessers shouldn't be caught to, just that it is much more important to stop this at the source. I'm sure the authorities do their best. No telling how much of this is going on that doesn't get reported.
thats true. i wonder what that means since there are tons of porn pictures on the internet that people look at and they dont know the ages of the girls.
There is whale sh** in the deepest part of ocean, there is miles of sand under the whale sh** and under that there is those who down load and enjoy child pornography.
I would suggest that the poster was talking about the population in general, not Free Republic members.
HE COULD BE DOING RESEARCH FOR PETE TOWNSHEND.
1) We don't know if this was one picture or more.
2) Students download tons of things.
3) Someone else may have downloaded it onto his computer.
Do you turn in everyone you know to be breaking the law, or do you discuss it with them first? If you know someone who's mixed up with drugs, do you try to convince them to go to church, AA or rehab, or do you call the police?
This is minor in comparison to murder, rape, theft, or arson - felonious acts that absolutely should be reported.
No. It's not minor. But thanks for the suggestions.
Former U.S. Rep. Frank Ballance enters a guilty plea in connection with money taken from his nonprofit foundation.
"One of these days, I'll have a story to tell you," Ballance said outside court.
Ballance's son, Garey, a state District Court judge, is awaiting arraignment on a charge of failing to file his 2000 income tax return.
An indictment said Ballance repeatedly forged the foundation director's signature on state money requests and said he diverted foundation money to pay a $15,500 legal bill in a criminal case and more than $69,000 in rent to his church, which housed the foundation's office.
The indictment said Ballance also dipped into foundation money to give his son $20,000 toward a Lincoln Navigator luxury sport utility vehicle; to pay his daughter $5,000 for computer services she didn't perform; and to give his mother $143,250 to spend on community programs.
Minor in comparison? Anything can be justified in this manner. I could say that the threat of communism was minor compared to the threat of the Nazi. It could have been a set-up however. Plus, sometimes you never know where you may accidently end up on the internet with all those pop-ups and stuff.
Downloading child porn is not minor. The kid that reported this scumbag may have save some child from being reaped and or killed by said scumbag.
Not trying to say pornography is okay on any level...but the question I always have is...what exactly did he have?
A picture of a 17 year old girl, even if SHE put it on the Internet, is still child porn and most people wouldn't know the difference. Now if it is pics of pre-teens...yes we have a major problem here.
The problem I have with that is TECHNICALLY, pictures of my son's first bath could be classified as Child Porn. Granted they are not on the Internet...but it is like that case where the father was taking a video of his 3 year old daughter running around after her bath, set it to music and gave it to his ex-wife as an "isn't this cute" type of thing. Then she takes him to court saying that he is taking naked shots of his daughter. And I am sure that most of you have pictures your parents took of you playing in water etc. when you were a baby.
Not that this is what is on this kid's computer...just that it is all about intention.
Wouldn't that same thinking apply to legal "teen" websites?
What about the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) websites?
You kids and your new morality!!!
That is the reason that many college students don't like honor codes. They think it's more important to be 'loyal' to their cheating friend than uphold standards of fairness and decency.
Biblically, my understanding of this or any matter that involves wrong-doing in my community can be found in Matthew 18:15-18.
15"If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. 16But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.'17If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector. 18"I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
