Most of us despise child pornography.
Even so, there is something very communist-like about neighbors reporting neighbors for minor law violations.

MINOR??? It may be lots of things but minor is not it.
Still, if the owner did not have possession of the computer for a length of time, he has a defense.

I would not call producing, distributing or being in possession of child pornography minor. And why shouldn't I be able to report my neighbor for breaking the law?

Most of us despise child pornography.
Most of us? I'd be willing to wager that all of us think child pornography is about as sickening as you get.

His friend could have downloaded that onto the computer and set him up very easily if he were mad at him for something.

Then just don't turn your neighbor in when he borrows your car and uses it to transport stolen goods - leaving some of the hot stuff in your trunk.

Glad to know that you consider collaboration in child molestation to be a minor offense.
You're repulsive.

I guess that'll be the last time he loans his computer to a friend.
"Hey, thanks for letting me borrow the computer...for your trouble, here's an arrest warrant."

Still, if the owner did not have possession of the computer for a length of time, he has a defense. And pretty obviously, some other people are using his computer!

Even so, there is something very communist-like about neighbors reporting neighbors for minor law violations. Only if it's somehow dedicated to maintaining the authority of an authoritarian regime. I don't think reporting the sexual exploitation of children is a problem.

I agree, shellcracker. This guy may or may not move up from enjoying child pornography to actually molesting or exploiting children, but if my child was living around that campus, I sure as hell wouldn't want the police taking the gamble that his pedophile fascination ends with the internet.

I would not call producing, distributing or being in possession of child pornography minor. It did not say he had produced or distributed anything. Only accused of downloading.
