Washington, DC, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Observers watching the counting of New Mexico's 2004 provisional and absentee ballots have uncovered evidence of voter fraud, Opinion Journal said Tuesday.
O.J. political diarist John Fund said the Bernalillo County clerk "told media outlets that observers had discovered instances of voter fraud" during the attempt to qualify 18,000 provisional and absentee ballots cast in last week's presidential election.
"In counting the first 5,000 provisional ballots," Fund reported, "observers turned up 53 instances of individuals voting more than once. They also found four voters who were dead and dozens of felons attempting to vote. In two cases, the same individual tried to vote three times: early, absentee and on Election Day."

Uh, he resigned today.
Prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.
Um, the source is pretty respected conservative commentator, a member of the Wall Street Journal editorial board, and a frequent contributor to the WSJ Opinion Journal: hhttp://www.opinionjournal.com/diary/?id=110005866
He is also the author of the popular book "Stealing Elections" which I bought and find extremely eye opening and written with a fair perspective on voter fraud on both sides of the isle. I disagree with you on N.M., the system is NOT working when it is so easy to vote multiple times, or when you are ineligible to vote. Just because a few were caught (and if we didn't have observers, I wouldn't count on these) doesn't mean things are ok. Read the thread by the GOP observer in Philly (a lawyer) - gross corruption by the Dems handling the voting precinct - 2000+ votes for Kerry, 3 for Bush. Dems having OBSERVERS hand out campaign literatur, etc. Fraud is a big problem in our election system, it needs to be fixed.
In 2000 with Bush 'winning' N.M. by only a few hundred votes - it was easy to "Oh, we just found a box of ballots that haven't been counted!" - just enough to put Gore in with about 200 over Bush - ALL, every one, of the "found" ballots were for Gore.
this time, they have several thousand to overcome - having a hard go of it...
Has the Brazilian gotten his American citizenship? I have foreign friends who have been here 30 years but can't vote because they only have green cards not citizenship.
yeah - NM did it in 2000 - they simply "found" a box a ballots that had "not been counted" and every single one was for Gore - so he "won" on the recount...
they're having a bit more trouble this time tho' due to Bush's much larger lead
but you gotta give them "a" for effort
Why am I NOT surprised? LOL
Each ballot is numbered? Wouldn't that be hard to redo? Wouldn't they have to mess with the existing ballots?
like it did in 2000 when Bush won by about 600 votes - and then , oh my, they "found" a box of ballots that hadn't been counted - EVERY ONE for Gore - which put him over by a few hundred...
Richardson is known for crooked politics - and doesn't anyone remember this scandal? (Had it been a republican, they would've been wearing blaze orange)
"There is more bad news for besieged Energy Secretary Bill Richardson, already scrambling to deal with horrendous security lapses at the nation's top nuclear-weapons lab...
The Department of Energy under Secretary Bill Richardson has failed to improve on lax security at U.S. nuclear labs and continues to be plagued by new lapses. two computer hard drives containing top-secret bomb designs recently went missing under suspicious circumstances -- altered reports and..." -
the only system working in New Mexico is fraud.
I need some more crack is it too late to vote? lol
Horse Puckey
if a person wants to vote - he knows about it before election day...he/she should be required to register at least 2 months before election so that legality can be checked -
the hundreds of thousands of same-day votes is ridiculous - and geared for fraud in the first place. NO way to catch most of them in time to count - or not to count!
Same-day voting was instituted for ease of fraud, pure and simple It used to be 6 months before election -
What do provisional ballots have to do with same-day voting? The Help America Vote Act (HAVA) mandates provisional ballots in all states. Anyone denied a normal ballot can cast one.
The 1st order of business for the new Congress should be to pass election law reform. Require photo ID for all voters. Require states to compare voter rolls to eliminate registration in more than 1 state. Require states to pull dead voters off the rolls. Eliminate same-day registration altogether. Require states to have 1 uniform way of casting ballots state-wide (not some computers here, some scantron there). Increase the penalties for voter fraud - make it a federal crime punishable the same way as mail fraud or wire fraud. And no political operatives running the polling places. I'm sick of Democrats trying to steal elections!
First, ask to see the IDs. Make it sound like he's b.s.ing and ask him to produce them. He probably is, anyway.
Second, I don't know where you are, but if it is legal in your state to tape conversations if only one party knows about the recording--tape his ass spouting about it. You'd better be sure about that law before you record him, however, because you could subject yourself to liability for invasion of privacy. Better to tape him in a public place, not an office, but a conversation in a park or restaurant where lots of people can hear him. Ideally, you'd be in a line together waiting with lots of people around within earshot so there is NO expectation of privacy whatsoever.
If he DOES produce id, and you CAN tape him, visit the federal D.A.'s office for your area (given Conn's proclitivities for being liberal, probably better to skip the state's atty). Give the tape to the ADA who talks to you. Tell him/her you'll testify.
Expect the Linda Tripp treatment if you do this. And get your own lawyer before you do. You could ask around the GOP HQ.

You're just too funny.
1. We are talking about hundreds of provisional ballots, ballots that leftists wanted to use to cheat with.
2. John Fund isn't going anywhere soon. He's been working for WSJ and is a well known writer--to conservatives.
3. The whole reason you have provisional ballots is the left saw an opportunity to go motor voter one further and try to sneak in voters who weren't legal to register AGAIN.
4. We understand how the process works. We also understand how the RATS game the system. The system only works when Republicans win with a big enough margin so RATS like Kerry have to concede--public opinion is that overwhelming.
They [lawyers/politicians] protect their own. Don't look for Ashcroft or anyone else to go after the crooks.
that's maybe 1% or 2%
