Well I've done a search of the posts here at FreeRepublic to see if this has been posted already and I found nothing, so I want to put it up for everyone to see.
Take a look at the map of the U.S. showing which counties returned a majority for Bush this past Tuesday:
I think this puts a real exclamation point on the Bush victory. There is more to the Bush margin than votes alone, not that the 51% - 48% split is insignificant by any means. There is also geography. What does this map show? It looks to me like Bush carried counties whose total geographical area accounts for 85% or more of the total land mass of the continental United States.
I always liked geography.
I'm not tired of it either. In fact, THIS time I printed it out. It'll look nice on my fridge.
I shows that 80% of Keery's support comes from large urban areas.
Either way...Red or Blue...it punctuates the political situation and condition in our nation geographically...and actually religiously too. When overlayed with a map that show the religious persuasion of the ocunties in question...it is very interesting.
Actually this is the first time I've seen it.
Practically all so far have numerous counties still gray.
This one has all red or blue.
#1 - Is there more blue than in 2000? Looking at it casually, it looks like there is.
# 2- Overreliance on this map is unwise. Many many more people live in the blue counties, on balance - counties don't vote for their state's representation in the electotal college, people do.
I bet looking at 1992 and 1996 county maps shows whole lots of red, too, but they were still losses.
Well the others can say what they want, I am glad you posted it because I wanted a copy of it. Thank you !!
I think its something like 2500 red counties to 500 blue.
Luckily it's in remission!

It's more than 85% when you count Alaska.
Saved this one also, really like it.
I've seen it before, but THIS time I downloaded it and set it as my background.
So thank-you - your post was not a waste!
Ive got it set as my background too.
Its beautiful.
I would be interested to see a US population density map by county.
Anyone know where to find one?
Celebration is warranted, as we have ample reason to celebrate.
Gloating is fine, in moderation.
But there is a risk of getting cocky if we sit in an echo chamber and see solid red with no hint of the real blend.
That kind of stupidity did in the Left this cycle.
We need not repeat their error.
You need to recheck which are the welfare states and which ones are not. Red states are generally on the receiving side of Federal largesse.
