Which Dem Senators should we target for defeat in 2006? (Vanity)

Ok, we've got two years. We know we need to pick up at least 6 seats. Assuming that we won't have a 100% success rate, we should probably choose at least 8-10 Democrat (or independent) seats to work on.

We have seen that we can make a difference in the outcome of elections. Let's put ourselves to work and help get W a fillabuster proof Senate.

I think Condi is in line for either Powell's job or Rummy's. I'd prefer for her to take over for Powell. Then in two years, I'd like to see maybe Cheney resign for his health and Condi take over the VP position. Then in 2008, we can drive the RATS and their fearful leader, Hillary...totally nutz.

That's great help! It must be great to live in Bush's red state. I'm fortunate, or I should say unfortunate :), to live in NY so it will make it easier for me to work on this.

Let's get real.... Freepers.. target Democrats in Red States... Nelson would be great... or we could make him into the mold of Chaffee, Stowe, Specter and make him a "DINO"

Can someone make a list of all the Dem Senators in the Red States

I enjoyed seeing that map of NY and the red in it. I wish there were little red dots on NY state in the entire map of USA and not just shown on the NY one. It really shows how there is always a chance NY can be won over. I don't think it's as impossible to win as I know many may think. NY just needs a lot of work.

I have a feeling that Debbie Stabenow plans on sticking around forever.

That's what Little Tommy Daschle thought.

I would have liked Condi as VP for the next four years putting Cheney at CIA but that obviously has not happened.
She is relatively young and needs some elected office experience under her belt.
Since she's a Californian, I thought running for governor or senator would be ideal but we'll just have to wait and see...she may just go back to Stanford.

Hillary is the most important -- she is the most dangerous to our Country. I think she can be beaten in 2006.

I say look at Ben Nelson in Nebraska. The popular Governor Johannes will probably run against him. Dayton is an obvious pick. New Jersey might be open if we can find a strong candidate and a weak Dem. That is assuming Corzine becomes Governor. Some people mention Nelson in Florida I am surprised with the way he won that seat I wouldn't think he would be in trouble. Stabenow in Michigan looks dweebish maybe there would be a shot at her. Other than that look for retirements.

Also I think we need to lay off of Chafee and Spector. They might elect a bona fide Republican as Governor in Rhode Island but not Senator. Spector is in a state that leans Dem slightly. The balance of power is in suburban Philadelphia who have been historically Gop moderates. Unfortunately they appear to be switching to the Dem's faster then we are gaining from change in the western part of the state. All we would do is lose both Senate seats. I prefer liberal or moderate Repub's to libral Democrats. I also believe in those states in the northeast and pacific west coast that there is simply no alternative but to make a moderate friendly party.

"Al Franken announced on Letterman last night that he is running in '06 in Minnesota."

Obviously this seat is in play.

VT Jeffords, Jim

Let's get jumping Jim! I bet vermonters will be fired up over how he took their campaign donations and then switched parties! Also, it was 50-49 for Kerry. And Kerry lives right next door. I think this seat is ripe, if we get a strong candidate there.

I think we need to lay off of Hillary. If she can be defeated in New York, she will obviously lose the Presidential election. I said earlier this year when there was talk of her entering the presidential race, that the current candidates were all more then capable of losing it with out her. I think we need to save her for 2008.

Too late, the SOB just got re-elected. Let's work to keep him from being chairman of the Judiciary Committee!

In NJ, when the RepublicRats controlled EVERYTHING, they sat down with an equal number of DemonPubs and allowed a professor from Princeton to be the tie breaker. That is why I am in Payne's district and my friends a quarter mile away are in Freylinghausen's district.

On another post I saw that there are a few democrats who are considering leaving their seats to run for governor:

Dodd, Schumer and one other I cannot remember.

We had better do well in 2006, because statistically the democrats have great opportunity in 2008, unless the GOP fields a great candidate.

I say that about 2008 because at present there are 11 democrats up and 23 republicans. It seems to normally bode better for the party having to defend fewer seats.

On the other hand, of the 11 democrats up again in 2008, 5 are from Bush states. Of the 23 republicans up then, only 4 are from Kerry states.

It seems to me that we can pick up 3-5 in 2006, and beak even in 2008 (depending on the presidential candidate.

Olympia Snowe will probably not run for re-election...she really doesn't have anything working upstairs for her anymore. If she does run, she probably will be Challenged and defeated by Congressman Allen for the 1st CD.
The best bet for Maine is to have someone like fmr. candidate for Governor Petter Cianchette run or even have fmr. Governor McKernan (Olympia's "husband") run for the seat.
Another great candidate would be Steve Abbott who is the Chief of Staff for Susan Collins. He is a real conservative, former school boy football star...avid hunter...he would be an awesome candidate. I say we lean on him to get him to run in '06!!!

I'm tires of the GOP in the NE states running these RINO, pro-choice, and high tax candidates.

heck, ill be happy with 3 more in 2006. 58 seats in the Senate will let us do just about anything. Yea, 2008 could be a difficult year. It's hard to predict cuz its so far ahead. How brutal the Republican pres primaries are will determine a lot.

We need to target any Senator that is not willing to stand up against a Senate filibuster of Judicial nominees and that includes any Republican also.
There were Senators especially in the South that told their constituents they would have voted for these judges had they come to the floor, but these same Senators would not vote to override a veto.I personally think they didn't want to vote for these nominees and used that as an excuse to keep from showing those who elected them where they stood.
Good old "Fritz" Hollings grouchy a$$ is gone thank goodness and they didn't get another clone to replace him.
Folks, truth of the matter is the fight has just begun and these evil, liberal Democrats are as dangerous as ever because they have the "Judicial System" in their pocket and control.

"Max Baucus, Montana Ben Nelson, Nebraska(work on a switch to GOP) Kent Conrad, North Dakota"

I'd most like to see these three make a life decision. However, Baucus should just go.
