VT Jeffords, Jim
Let's get jumping Jim! I bet vermonters will be fired up over how he took their campaign donations and then switched parties! Also, it was 50-49 for Kerry. And Kerry lives right next door. I think this seat is ripe, if we get a strong candidate there.

On another post I saw that there are a few democrats who are considering leaving their seats to run for governor:
Dodd, Schumer and one other I cannot remember.
We had better do well in 2006, because statistically the democrats have great opportunity in 2008, unless the GOP fields a great candidate.
I say that about 2008 because at present there are 11 democrats up and 23 republicans. It seems to normally bode better for the party having to defend fewer seats.
On the other hand, of the 11 democrats up again in 2008, 5 are from Bush states. Of the 23 republicans up then, only 4 are from Kerry states.
It seems to me that we can pick up 3-5 in 2006, and beak even in 2008 (depending on the presidential candidate.

I don't recommend heavy out-of-state targeting of Jeffords. That will piss Vermonters off enough to vote for him. They don't like "flatlanders" messing in their elections.
Awhile ago a Massachusetts Republican named Jack McMullen moved up here to run against Pat Leahy for Senate.
People were so incensed about his "carpetbagging" that in the primary they voted for an 80 year old dairy farmer named Fred Tuttle who ran as a joke (promo for the "A Man with A Plan" movie) instead. Tuttle won with about 80% of the vote.
Even the non-left Vermonters are stubborn as rocks. If they sense out-of-state interference all hell will break loose.
