Voted this morning in Ogden UT...long line...there's a marriage amendment up, and that among other things might be part of the reason...this area is dominant GOP anyway, absolutely a red state, but it was still nice to see all those people waiting for the poll to open!
from Berks County, PA: I arrived at one of the polling locations around 7:50 this morning, stood in line for 10 mins, then found out my polling place was elsewhere; went to that one, no line, got right in. Lots of Kerry signs in this area, Kerry signs at both polling locations, no Bush signs. They make it hard to find your polling place around here...it changes from election to election. Overall, I've seen more Kerry signs in this area of PA (Berks, Montgomery & Chester counties), but am PRAYING FERVENTLY that our boys win. May take a break later to go to the Catholic church across the street - couldn't hurt.....might help. :)
I was listening to the Va Tech weekly football show last night and the AD was asked a question about Auburn. The VT AD said that Auburn/Va Tech had a contract to play in 2010-11, home and home. Auburn backed out! Auburn had a buyout clause and exercised it.
Sad, because it would be 2 great games! LSU came to Va Tech 2 years ago and it was a smoking good time.

I was in line for 35 minutes before I voted. I was # 94 when I left. I have never been higher than # 30 previously during any election at this precinct, and I have always voted later in the morning.
I am probably wrong, but I sincerely hope that this is the end of voter apathy in this country.

The other day on Halloween night, we went to the church down the street that was having a fall festival. They had these two liter bottles with the church leadership's pictures on them sitting on a shelf. You threw a bean bag at the the bottles, knocked them off and got a handful of candy.
My eldest jedi approached and was just about to throw the beanbag when the gentleman that was standing by asked "Do you know who you want to knock down?"
My son stood for a minute pondering, then asked "Are any of them democrats?"
The room just exploded in laughter and the gentleman said "Not any of these guys...no!"
But I agree with you that what a person does to thier bodies does not change who they are. :O)
Just voted in Indianapolis. Weather is light drizzle, not too cold. Voting was light at about 8:45 AM.
TV trucks were all around as Mitch Daniels had voted earlier. Mitch lives in my neighborhood, so we are hopeful after his election today that our streets will always be plowed first in Winter. The local poll had him up a few points over Kernan last week.
Same poll had Bush at 61-33% and the momentum swinging to Bush by 8% compared to the previous poll (57-37). In 2000, Bush took 56.6% and Gore took 41.0% in Indiana. Since Indiana closes at 6PM, the relative difference in the Bush-Kerry vote might provide some indication of how the evening will unfold.
Looks good for Bush in Hoosierland!
Hubby voted by absentee ballot (he's Navy) so I'll have him watch the kids (5 and 7 yr old boys) while I go vote. Our 7 yr old son is high functioning autistic and probably wouldn't handle the crowds or wait very well.
It will definitely help, trust me.

Hey, reporting in from the Shenadoah valley in central VA, just got back from voting. A Kerry/Edwards cronie asked me who I intened to vote for...her is the conversation.
Her:"excuse me sir, if I may ask who do you intend to vote for?"
Me:"George W. Bush"
Her:"What is driving your decision?"
Me:"I'm going in the military, Bush has a record of supporting the military, Kerry has a record of opposing it."
Her:"Well he has said...." (I cut her off)
Me:"Substance over words ma'am, Substance over words."
I walked off after this.

I voted last week, but I took my kids (ages 5 and 10) to the Kids Vote table at the polls this morning. Both voted straight Republican, without any instructions from me. I expected that from my 10 year old daughter, because we have discussed politics enough that she knows the difference. My 5 year old son, on the other hand, hasn't been in any of the discussions, and can't read much. Without hesitation, he voted Republican. Just goes to show that doing the right thing comes naturally to some people.
I took my just turned six year old with me this morning. 'Course I read him the riot act before we went in. LOL!
someone needs to call the nbc hotline (for voting help) and ask them to come help program your VCR, figure out your cell phone, pump gas, or explain the ATM machine. give me a break.
