Two 'highlights' from Elizabeth Edwards' just-completed interview on the Larry King show:
1. in describing the need to bring the country back together after the election, she expressed the fear W would be incapable of doing it, because he engaged in "character assassination" during the campaign; and
2. asked what her priorities would be if her husband and Kerry are elected, she mentioned her desire to be an advocate for military families, saying they haven't been fairly treated, and that military families hesitate to criticize W for fear of "recriminations by the Commander-in-Chief."
I'm not ordinarily a wet blanket. Maybe this unusual vulnerability on my part has been my little emotional reaction to the tension we've all been feeling. Carry on.
That's alright. We're all in this together. Pray, pray hard.
However this thread has made me laugh out loud many times, and I seldom do that. I think we're all giddy and need a humor break after all these weeks of bitterness from her buddies. It's the last night and we needed to laugh. The gist of her comments were posted, what more could be said?
What a stirring, heartwarming story! Prayers for him and for the family.
I agree with everything you say about not picking on her about her weight. I struggle with mine, too, and would hate to be a public figure and subjected to ridicule about it. But we don't make fun of chubby people just because they are that...look at Oprah, even though she may be a liberal, and overweight, she does have dignity and is intelligent. Oh, come on.. let's be fair. There are plenty of overweight Republicans, too. However, Mrs. Edwards is now "Fair Game," and the Dems set the rules with that call.
So, I won't say anything about her weight. I will say that I couldn't bring myself to watch her interview because she is so tactless, insensitive, and obviously just plain dumb that it makes me want to pee my pants laughing at her.
However, in reading these posts, I admit to laughing so hard, that I ...well, you know...!
I think since she and Teresa became acquainted T-rex has been slipping her a nip or two at the pickle juice. Can you imagine these two tactless, self-righteous, idiotic, cantankerous old sour-pusses hanging out in the White House and greeting heads of state? What a "revolting development" that would be.
Thank you for those kind words. We are doing fine and joyous that he is no longer sick!
We are very proud of him.

Oh great! Now we're going to start in with the incontinence jokes! Will such humor bother me? That depends. hee
Amen to that. The President is so steady and so focused, it does give you strength, though, doesn't it? It is so encouraging to see and listen to Rove and Hughes and Liz Cheney (the daughter) and all the others. They exude good humor and confidence without the bitter attacks on their opponents.
See ya at the polls tomorrow..........:^)
Well maybe. I just don't see why it is okay to make fun of someone who wears ugly clothes and has ugly hair and has a demeanor like a pig. Why isn't THAT off limits too? I guess you don't have ugly hair or ugly clothes.
In the midst of all this election anxiety, it must have taken a lot of courage and strength to post your thoughts. I just had to say that to you. :)
And while I carry a few extra lbs., I am not overweight, but I am just as uncomfortable with these comments. To me, they diminish a FReepers' intelligence to that of a DU-er.
I think Mrs. Edwards is a pretty lady with a pretty face, but it is often hidden by her ugly comments.
Liberals live their entire existence based upon symbols. Over substance. (thanks, Rush). They, liberals, pretend to be non-judgemental. When in fact, it is they who practice racialism, over-weightism, appearance-ism. Therefore, conservatives here are attacking Lizzie upon what obviously matters to Lizzie Most: "appearances" over substance. Of course, her words are abominable. And what tends to come out of Lizzie are coarse, crass insults heaped upon insults. So, instead of giving the benefit of a doubt to Lizzie -- meaning, treating a honorable woman one disagrees with on points with respect; Posters are heaping dishonor upon a woman who is not worthy of respect.
Can you tell I've been wondering about this for a bit? :)
Well, I hesitated to say anything.
I have both ugly hair AND ugly clothes. heh.
My post was expressing personal hurt that has built up over the course of this campaign, but maybe I should have remained quiet.
I have little patience for special interest groups who get their feelings hurt over every perceived slight and demand preferential treatment for their "specialness". Maybe that's what I was guilty of doing? I don't know. I'm tired. I'm going to bed.
Okay, it's official. I hate that woman.
Ditto Bump...
Sorry, I got Kerr-ied away while Relish-ing the chance to play ketchup to the Dems and the way they smear our candidates with caustic condiments, er, comments. It was a release I guess ;) - Just a bit of insanity tonight for which we might be apologetic - Not.
I know better, on this forum we should act intelligent and dignified - at least. Better go to bed. Will need my energy for tomorrow. Thanks for the relief folks. In all seriousness we know what we have to do and will do it. Bush will win! The MSM will be wondering - Wha????
Does this woman have any clue as to the meaning of Character Assasination!?!?! Does she realize that George Bush has been a target of vitriolic character assasination by the Old Media and the Democrats since he announced his run for president in 2000. The only difference is that unlike the whiny crybaby she is married to and his completely clueless running mate, Bush takes the criticism like a gentleman. When is the last time you heard our President demand that people stop being "mean to him", which is a daily happening with her husband's team!!
When has W. ever issued any comments to that effect? Ever?
LOL Just had to say thanks for the laugh!
When Kerry's camp sent Max Clelland to Texas with a letter to tell Bush to ask the Swifties to stop being mean to him that was rich. After years of bashing Bush, non-stop, telling lies, Kerry wanted Bush's supporters to go easy on him. This and other travesties demand action. Take your pent up anger, take your pig's pent up anger, and go, go to the polls and vote angry. Then when you walk out into the street and the democrats' lawyers and chubby Moore's cameramen, and the MSM traitors ask how you voted, with a smile, say you voted for Kerry.
