"Let's call the whole thing off"
Does the bin Laden tape signal an approaching end game? Bin Laden can't prevail against "the Chicago way."
This morning, reviewing the transcript of Osama bin Laden's videotape appearance this week brought to mind a scene from 1987's hit crime drama, The Untouchables:
Police Officer Jim Malone to Eliot Ness: "If Capone comes at you with a knife, you go after him with a gun. If he sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way! And that's how you get Capone!" I am wondering whether bin Laden has started to realize that since 9/11, America has been fighting al Qaeda the Chicago way. Consider the evolution of his rhetoric until yesterday.

Dang, I can't bring up the blog!! Too busy at the server.
Without reading the whole thing, I think it's a very plausible take on bin Laden and Al Qaeda. If they were able to carry out another spectacular terrorist attack on U.S. soil, we would have seen that instead of a video message. Spain didn't get a video - they got train explosions.
The other side always wants to talk peace when they are losing. This is especially true of terrorist organizations throughout history.
But when they ask for a pause, that is exactly the time to strike them even harder.
Osama's kind will never give up. They may get old and gray but they are always recruiting younger members and leaders to take over. They have been indoctrinated in the parts of the Koran which tells them to fight on forever until the Islamic Sharia Law Caliphate is installed over as much of the world as possible.
It was going to take a decade or more to stop Islamic terrorism. It always takes a long time to stop a terrorist movement.
Now is the perfect time to move on Fallujah and on Osama's protection zone in Waziristan Pakistan (where the Pakistanians are still afraid to go and/or are not ready to take on the thousands of tribal fighters protecting Osama and resisting any authority other than the tribal chiefs.)
Forward +60 years.
Somehow I don't think the American voters will want to make a truce with the man who caused the murders on September 11th, 2001.
"May your 42 virgins all resemble Theresa Heinz Kerry"
2 corrections -
1) 72 virgins - unless of course they are running out due to all the Islamo-fascist deaths.
2) Not THK - Helen Thomas........
Osama made a declaration of war against the US. That will be brought to it's natural conclusion.
Uhhh. . . he has no track record -- a fact that is consistently ignored by his supporters and the MSM.
In actuality, it's 72 virgins on 72 "sheets".
Irrational? You decide. These people, if
they would really stop to think with anything
but their sexual organs, would realize how
repulsive this would be even if it were true.
Is this Neville Chamberlain in the photograph?
You are correct.
Osama may appear to be softening up a little, but probably only because there's no indoor plumbing in his cave.
At least outhouses have crescent moons on the door, so it could be worse for him.

The Germans, Italians, and Japanese declared war against America in WWII were allowed to surrender unconditionally. What OBL has said to date is nowhere near an unconditional surrender. Game's still on.
"Osama's kind will never give up"
Too true. History is replete with examples of Arab "warriors" begging for mercy and then sucker-punching their adversary when he sheaths his sword.
No mercy for these swine.
Or that other person I won't mention because then someone would post a picture and we'd all get brain damage...
"Is this Neville Chamberlain in the photograph?"
Yes, his notorious "peace in our time" plagerism of Disraeli:
"My good friends, this is the second time in our history that there has come back from Germany to Downing street peace with honor" - Chamberlain, after tossing the Czechs to the Nazi wovles for the promise of "future negotiations".
