what a ridiculous, elitist statement, wild turkey. you know there are perfectly credible folks who visit this board who happen to be newbies. many folks have very responsible jobs who might actually have direct knowledge of important subjects and you brush them off with this silliness of "oh, they are a newbie". give me a break. seems to me to be a variation on bullying--just because people are new or not in your in little clique doesn't make them irrelevant and give you an excuse to belittle them.

>>>It is NOT too late and it is important to prove to the world that Kerry is not fit to be President.

No, it's not too late, just very late.

That isn't true or fair.

Since I've been doing research on it, I have found the Vets have been trying to get the information out there, FOR YEARS.

See:

Leonard Magruder - Founder/President, VIETNAM VETERANS FOR ACADEMIC REFORM http://v-v-a-r.org

And numerous Vietnam Veteran sites.

No one listened. No one reported their information.

And we, here at FR, are about the only ones that really know.

OK...

Would an honorable discharge ever be granted by a "board of officers" in situations where there wasn't a previous discharge of lesser desirability?

I have heard that his medals were "reinstated" in the 1980's sometime. From what I have heard, the only time you get medals reinstated, is if you have had them taken away in the first place. There are only a few reasons they would be taken away in the first place...any thoughts on this?

Check my date, fellow newbie! It was made in jest because newbies are often gigged for being newbies. Read the subseqent posts, at least down to #35.

Re Kerry's medals: Kerry requested his new medals in 1985 as replacements for the ones he threw away in 1971. He admitted he threw them away at the time and then changed his story subsequently that the threw away his ribbons and someone else's medals. He was telling the truth in 1971 and is lying today. What we really need is a copy of his request in 1985 for replacement citations/certificates/medals. Kerry claims they just requested replacement citations and certificates because he knows that replacement medals would undermine his current story, which was most recently mentioned to Charles Gibson on GMA earlier this year.

I am under no illusion that Kerry isn't hiding something. He is. I suspect that there are ONI, NIS, or FBI files chronicling his activities and associations with the VVAW. There are also nomination forms for his medals, particularly his first Purple Heart and his Silver Star, which may prove embarrassing. We have after action and casualty reports for the other two PHs, but none for the first one, which was approved almost three months after the December 2, 1968 incident.

The Silver Star is the most curious of all. We have three citations. The first one was by ADM Zumwalt who was not the final approval authority for the award since CINCPAC, Adm Hyland, had that authority. The citations are significantly different, which can be attributed to some editing at the CINCPAC level to make the citation conform to existing standards and to fit on one page suitable for framing. However, the Zumwalt citation is on letterhead paper and we know that Kerry received the award from ADM Zumwalt just two days after the incident. A contemporaneous letter form LTJG Droz to his wife confirms that Kerry, Droz, and Rood were called to Zumwalt's HDQTRS on March 2, 1969 to receive their awards for the Feb 28 action. It is quite apparent that the Silver Star was not vetted through the normal award process, which would certainly take more than two days. Either Zumwalt acted outside of his authority or there is correspondence between Hyland and Zumwalt concerning the very unusual circumstances surrounding this award.

SECNAV Lehman signed replacement citations and certificates for the Silver Star and Bronze Star on June 4, 1985 and perhaps issued replacement medals, which Kerry denied throwing away. BUPERS also issued replacement certificates for Kerry's three PHs on the same date (signed by David Harlow, Commander Naval Military Personnel Command). We really need to see Kerry's written request for replacement citations/cetificates, and possibly medals. It is also odd that the Navy would just not make a copy of the existing citations in Kerry's files rather than having them signed by Lehman. The Bronze Star citations (Zumwalt and Lehman) are identical, but the last sentence of the Lehman signed citation for the Silver Star is different from the Hyland version. Why?

for all in this post, IMO i beleive that this was locked in swiftvet web site for 2 reasons.

1 - Server was going crazy...with FR and DUmmies accessing info.

2. - I beleive as i read in earlier post in this thread: that the NY SUN will be running an article about this SOON., as their reporter has been working very closly with information previously uncovered by NAVYCHIEF.

IF INFORMATION WAS INCORRECT, SEEMS LIKE THEY WOULD HAVE COMPLETELY DELETED REFERENCES TO THIS SUBJECT. INSTEAD OF SAYING INFO WILL BE REOPENED LATER.

With the exception of a medical board, it has not been my experience to have ever seen any discharge given by a board that was better than a General discharge.

Remember, a board of officers is NOT a good thing. If they're having a board at all, it's because of some offense. The board will either find the accusation unfounded .. and the accused will go back to duty as before .. or founded, in which case, if they want him out, it wouldn't be with an honorable discharge.

I'm not saying that it's not possible, but the chances are probably better being hit by a meteorite. In 27 years, I've never seen one.

I'm talking about upgrading a less desirable discharge to honorable, which seems to have happened.

He should've gotten a discharge in 1972; instead, he got one in 1978.

ALERT:

Lipscomb promptly responded to my e-mail question about Navy Chief's claim:

"I expect to post what I know Monday.

I do NOT know the information imputed by the latest blogostorm at the
present time. I only wish I did!

Keep killing trees, and keep your sense of humour!

Best

Thomas H. Lipscomb"

In other words, while I DO NOT believe Navy Chief is lying.....he has been extremely reliable....as of yet, it appears Chief has not passed on the word to Lipscomb, perhaps because he is working other sources right now.

I believe the post was locked until they nail down all the information. Perhaps they've got a statement from the former Sec. Navy that they need his approval on before running with it, and they don't want him spooked.

Unfortunately, if they don't have it nailed yet, the story has been widely published in blogs today, so you can't but the genie back in the bottle.

I wish Navy Chief would quit doing this.

You really need to have the story iced down before you flood the Net with "I know something you don't" hints...

Actually, NavyChief has been working on this for awhile, and asked for help from members of the SwiftVet forum to help put pressure on congressmen (Frist and Zell Miller), because he can't get MSM to go with it.

He wants to nail it down firm wheatever he has it sounds like. And, at least when he e-mailed me, he did not have Chief's info, but perhaps some other new info or something.

Anyone know why?

Get a clue friends. This is America. The Dems probably threatened his family. Or worse!

Why Now and not six months ago?

Because liberals have short memories. Look how quickly they have forgotten 911. Now is the right time for this... if it is true.
