This is what happens when you go all in on a bad hand. Kerry and his buddies at the NYT bet all they had left on a dud and in a couple of days their faces will drop when Bush pushes his pile to the middle.

I hate to get too crazy, but do ya think the Bush team knew about this and this is their October surprise? Sort of a memogateII with a week to go?

Well, I see your 'double-edged sword analysis' here; but I really do not agree.

Bush does not have to be on the offense; he can STRONGLY state; that he is there to set the record straight; one that is continually be skewed - refashioned - strained into a truth that is not.

Do it forcefully. . .straighforward; because America deserves to hear the truth. After NOV 2. . .is too late to get the news.

It was Bush's decision not to rehash/criticize/air 'old laundry' for almost every transgression that Clinton/Gore pulled; the biggest being; the Myth of the Florida vote aka now. . .by the Demrats. . .the STOLEN VOTE by Repubs which will go into the history books.

It has surely worked to the Demrats favor; the TRUTH countered; everytime the Demrats uttered their 'stolen vote story' might have put this into the trash heap of history, where it belongs. But Bush and Repubs just said. . .'let's move on'. . .

It appears that the strategy is to not respond to every desperate charge, only to the ones that need instant rebuke. Why bother, when the internals show us up and in a comfortable position?

When this is all over, many of us will reflect on how smart Carl Rove was to take the high road when appropriate and let the hate-mongers string themselves up, time and again.

I don't know whether it was Rove or hillary planting the october surprise.

The big clue is that this broke on sunday night- 9 days before the eleciton. That's too long for a good 'october surprise'. It leaves time for spinning and debunking to take hold.

My guess is this was encouraged by hillary's people in the DNC who have an interest in kerry losing in november.

NBC has exposed the NY Times/60 minutes story with the explosives already being gone when U.S. troops arrived. CNN has now done the same, as has 60 Minutes' own channel CBS.

Likewise, Fox has exposed the NYTimes' scandal, as have Rush and most of talk radio. The Washington Times, NY Post, NY Sun, and Arizona Republic have *already* published editorials debunking the NYT story.

Numerous online reporters from Drudge down to lowly bloggers have likewise smashed the NYT's October Surprise.

...But you haven't heard anything?!

Did you miss the Pentagon shredding the NYT's version?

It seems that way to me too. The only people who will hear the truth about this story are those who watch Fox News or listen to conservative talk radio. And that means the majority of undecided voters will only hear the CBS/NYT BS.

What is great is that the NYT blew this bigtime... Had this been held and run by 60 MINUTES on SUNDAY night it would have been 2000 DUI all over again.

A Sunday Night airing, ollowed by NYT running on Monday Morning would have been worth 3 pts for Kerry. Instead the NYT pulled the stunt a Monday early and it allowed the Bush People and the few honest media people left time to jump on the story.

By the time next Tuesday hits this will be tied completely around Kerry's neck and his ADS will be the laughingstock of the nation.

Tin foil KARL ROVE spooky conspiracy theory for the DUmmies -- Whoever shops the story to or makes the story up for CBS/NYT, ROVE & co get wind from a friendly source inside one of these entities. ROVE & Co. realize that played right this is a gold mine for BUSH, But only if the story breaks early enough for the rebuttal to take full effect. ROVE & Co work thier magic to make CBS/NYT think story may break elsewhere - forcing NYT to run story early. Once story hits, ROVE & Co. lay back and wait for the JOHNS to bite. The JOHNS swallow the bait - hook line & Sinker. ROVE Lets the line play out a little (CNN ET AL run with story), then tugs gently to set the hook (NBC starts to backtrack), ROVE lets out some more line (BUsh silence must mean there is fire, so JOHNS unleash the AD), Hook is SET and ROVE starts to REEL em in!!!!!!

Hope this makes you feel better. I heard the rat media and Kerry get "basted" by several SoFlo media outlets including two major talk show hosts other than Rush. As a side note, two of the Talk Show hosts out of four in the two shows are Jewish (not necessarily practicing.) It was particularly enjoyable and gratifying listening to them verbally eviscerate the rats.
