The NY TIMES has attempted to pull an October surprise with an apparent fabricated story that was even shopped to 60 MINUTES.
A huge cache of very serious weapons, about 380 tons of HMX and RDX, were supposedly lost because U.S. troops did not guard them. It is, of course, more evidence that George Bush is an incompetent commander in chief and must go.
Unfortunately for the Old Gray Lady, now seemingly to be closer to yellow for its yellow journalism, Jim Miklaszewski of NBC reported the truth in April of 2003 --- the weapons were gone before U.S. troops got to the weapons depot.
John Forbes Kerry, a traitor to this nation in the Vietnam era and an unthinkable commander in chief, used the phony info on the campaign stump yesterday.
If you would like to call the NY TIMES ---
Listen to the prompts and get to the news desk (I think one of the buttons was for international news)
(212) 556-1234
I called and got some young dude, who tried to defend their story. He ended up hanging up on me.
heh heh
(Let's wear the b@stards down)
BTTT
Molly?
I called a got a recording saying that a responsible journalist would be given the message. I sharply remarked that they do not employ any responsible terrorists.
I just got a callback from James Meeks of the NY Daily news (post #50)..very stand up guy to his credit.
He told me that while there will be no retraction they will continue to report on this story. Then HE THANKED ME for bringing to his attention the NBC news story as he was unaware of it!
We talked about a lot of stuff and, without getting into great detail, he was very reassuring that they will in fact cover this angle of the story.
I thanked him for calling me back and talking about this topic.
MAKE THE CALLS....THEY WORK!
if he hung up on you it means you were probably hitting him with facts and he could not defend his position. easier just to hang up on these damn neocons!!
How many elections have they tried to fix; how many conservatives have they suppressed; how many liberal candidates have they put in office?
I'm glad they are finally being caught red-handed.
I just hope we can stop this blatant manipulation by the media before they do more damage to America.
The way I see it, the press is covering their own A$$. The lying John Kerry would never have been anointed the Democrat nominee if the press had been doing their job while he was in the Senate for the past 20 years. Twenty years of a free pass, now that he is under the spotlight the press has been caught sitting down on the job, giving free passes to the RATS all along. The only way they can save face to get him elected. They can run, but they cant hide from the light of the truth.
This was posted on another thread, perhaps you missed it?
"ED Hill showed the front page of NY Slimes with bold headlines exploiting the story. She wondered why they had continue the story when it had been discredited by the embedded reporters from NBC?"

I just spoke w/ NYTIMES and demanded a retraction! Thanks for posting the number. They sound frustrated.

After the election has been decided, they will come out with an "Oops we forgot to tell you some things" to save face (but only if Kerry is elected). If Bush is elected, they will continue to pound the same old stories of No WMDs, Bush is a buffoon, tax cuts are bad for the economy, etc., etc.
It's too bad that the media's hunger for power and domination is more important to them than their credibility.
They were much more polite (condescending) to me, but they basically said the same thing and that the letter is completely authenticated. I asked if they would at least be publishing that the story has been questioned, and he said yes. I then asked, "Before the election?" and he chuckled. I won't hold my breath.
Thanks Doug....I called the NY Slimes.
Phone number is (212) 556-1234 then hit the following prompts: 5-then-1-then-4.
I asked for a retraction as the story was outrageously concocted and false.
The response from the woman was, "We stand by our Facts."
...or was that "Fax"? :) In either case, she sounded weary, very very weary.
CarpetCall the b@ast@ards.
We should call them and thank them. They broke this early, giving us time to rebut, and ruined SeeBS's plan to run on election eve...
Hi, Could you tell me what you told them? I'll call but need help as to what to say? Also, should we be emailing or calling the stations, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox, to ask them to run the correct story?
Pray for W and Our Troops
