ST. PAUL - Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura has officially endorsed Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.
The announcement was made during a 30-minute news conference at the State Office Building. The former Minnesota was there, but did not make any comments.
Just days ago, Ventura had said that he did not plan to support Kerry or President Bush this election year.
Also at the news conference was former Maine Gov. Angus King, who was the only other third-party governor during Ventura's years in office. He said Ventura changed his mind and decided to endorse Kerry.
Organizers didn't even know Ventura was going to show up until the news conference started. He told reporters who followed him out to his car afterward that he'll be doing interviews in Los Angeles.
JESSIE VENTURA SPORTING HIS NEW HOMELESS SHELTER LOOK
That's what happens when a candidate has no core principles. Ventura sounded "conservative" but was a down-the-line liberal that anyone who read the fine print could easily tell. I understand that voters under 30 flocked to Ventura in 1998.
Maybe the prospect of facing a primary might deter him from running again.
No, that won't deter Schwarzenegger from running again. The GOP is now solidly in his corner, and he knows it. My goodness, he delivered probably the best speech of all at the Republican Convention!
Goodbye, Jesse.
Part of his campaign promise was to give everyone $1,000 and to legalize dope and prostitution.
The national GOP, perhaps, and maybe even what passes for leadership in the CAGOP. But the people I know at the grassroots are deeply disappointed in our governor. I'm talking about the people who are volunteering right now in local Bush-Cheney/Republican Party HQ's to try to elect Republican candidates. They've gotten zero help from the governor, and they won't forget.
They've gotten zero help from the governor, and they won't forget.
Yes, and these were the McClintock people in 2003. They were 13 percent of the vote. No longer can conservatives even win statewide GOP primaries in CA.
I recall when he got elected there were many here who were singing his praises, and some of us (mainly from Mn.) who were trying to tell people don't believe with guy.
Not that I would EVER say I told you so, but I told you so.
Kerry was in Nam?
That's the rumor going around. :-)
Since when did Jerry turn into Billy Bob Thorton?
"What do YOU think, ....Thing...?????"
Lefty Turnbuckle endorses another Liberal.....Why am I not suprised!!!!
That should have been publicised in Detroit. He's one of the most popular Detroit Lions of the last 15 years.
He looks like he's wearing the "middle east" cosmetic surgery from Team America: World Police.
Great movie, but I'm left to wonder, when is Carl Weathers going to run for governor?
