If they did see him swallow cocaine and didn't take him to the hospital and kept him in custody, then they should be sued.

Doesn't that mean his mother aided him in purchasing, and transporting the cocaine? That she knew he had it?
She should be locked up and any remaining children take away from her.

Yea they should've taken him...but if he's an IDIOT for doing that crap in the first place well....Nobody forced him to swallow it and nobody forced him to sell, snort, inject or transport it. It was HIS decision. It's the coke and his stupidity that killed him. I have no sympathy. Case closed.

Pryor panicked and swallowed cocaine he had in his possession, according to the report. If I'm the judge, I'd have just one question: Was the boy forced to swallow the cocaine or was it his own decision?
Answer: "It was his own decision"
Me, the judge: "Case dismissed."

Apparently is wasn't clear before.
MY POST WAS BASED ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT THE COPS SAW HIM SWALLOW COCAINE.
EVERYTHING ELSE IS OBVIOUSLY SPECULATION.
THAT IS WHY I STARTED MY POST WITH "If they did see him swallow cocaine . . ."

The source of the police behavior is the mother.

From WXYZ News:
"Pryor was carrying $1000 in cash, as well as the crack cocaine. Attorney Reed, however, says this does not justify the treatment of the 16-year-old."
Police say Pryor had a history of drug arrests.
"According to officials, officers repeatedly asked the teenager if he had swallowed drugs, and he told them no. Pryor then went into convulsions in the holding cell, and officers called an ambulance right away."
"Attorney Reed told press, "I want the people to know, Quantrell was somebody. Quantrell has a family. He was not an animal, and he didnt deserve to die like an animal."
Hey. He was and he did. Scumbag crack dealer -- good riddance to bad garbage.

The cops didnt force him to swallow it. It was his choice, just like getting involved with the drug in the first place. Sounds like the kid made alot of bad choices, and now the cops are at fault for it. Seems like mama should have seen the kid was going down the wrong path before it got this far.

Additional followup from this morning's WDIV story:
The City of Dearborn issued a response in reaction to a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit filed by a local family.
The parents of Quantrell Pryor, 16, claim their son's death could have been prevented if Dearborn police would have immediately taken him to the hospital, Local 4 reported.
"The doctor said if he would have gotten here in 30 minutes or earlier, or even an hour earlier it would have made such a difference," said LaTanya Pryor, the teen's mother.
Dearborn police stopped Pryor (pictured, left) last Tuesday outside the JC Penney department store at Fairlane Mall when they noticed the left rear window was broken out in the vehicle he was driving.
Pryor panicked and swallowed cocaine he had in his possession, according to the station's reports.
Pryor was taken by squad car to the Dearborn police station at about 5 p.m. Police said he repeatedly denied that he had ingested any drugs when questioned by officers.
Pryor was transferred by ambulance to Oakwood Hospital from police custody after going into convulsions inside an observation cell at about 6:20 p.m., police said.
Attorney Arnold Reed, who is representing Pryor's family in the lawsuit, said police knew the teen had ingested cocaine, but did nothing to save him until it was too late.
A neighbor of the teen's family reportedly claimed to have seen Pryor convulsing in the back seat of the squad car.
"And the police told her that he had just ingested drugs. She then got her cell phone and immediately called the mother," said Reed.
The family claims that Pryor was taken into custody around 5 p.m. and did not make it to the hospital until about 7:30 p.m.
Pryor was pronounced dead on arrival, but doctors managed to maintain his heartbeat, Local 4 reported. He was removed from life support on Saturday.
"I wouldn't want a dollar if I could get my son back," LaTanya Prior said.
It was initially reported that the vehicle Pryor was driving was not stolen, but Dearborn police have confirmed that the vehicle was stolen from Tennessee. Police also confirmed that the substance in his possession was cocaine, according to reports.
Police said Pryor was belligerent and uncooperative from the time of his arrest.
Pryor has a history of drug arrests, according to police.
The investigation into his death continues.

Why did he swallow the cocaine?
Because it is illegal to own.
Why are some drugs against the law to own?
To provide LEO / Government workers with a means to collect a paycheck.
So what if the kid died, the taxpayers will foot the bill, and LEO / Government workers will continue to rock on with the WOD.
The life of a stupid kid, breaking the law, is a small price to pay to continue the gravy train for LEO / Government workers.
Heck the loss of a few LEO / Government workers is no big deal, but a small price to pay to continue the war on drugs.
After all, the LEO / Government workers have families to feed and government pensions to collect.
And NO, I do not use recreational drugs nor do I care to, I know they are bad for my health, and I am able to make my own decisions.
