Maybe. I am sure they questioned him as to what he swallowed. If he repeatedly said he did not swallow cocaine then I would cut the cops a great amount of slack. Of course it should be assumed he was lying. But I have little to no sympathy for people who die because of willful engagement in behaviour (legal or illegal).

I believe the mother witnessed him swallowing the cocaine. She obviously kept silent when the police took him into custody. Looks like she should have protected her son's health before she protected his "legal *ss".

Could you imagine the emergency rooms if the cops ran every user there who swallowed their stash (must have been a healthy amt. to kill him)? Inner city emergency rooms, especially Friday and Saturday nights, already get crammed full of drug gangbangers who shoot each other. Decent, law abiding citizens, are neglected in the process. Screw these people, the kid, and especially the ambulance chaser.
