Early voting begins in Texas today 10-18-2004
BUSY polling place this morning! That pretty much sums it up. I went to my local polling place early and got there about 2 minutes after they opened and there were already 5-6 people in there ahead of me. I commented to the election official about how I was surprised there were already folks there and he said he was expecting it to be a "mad rush" or to that effect.
Anyway, I gave him my voting card and he asked if that was still my correct address on the card. It is, of course, and he said "Oh, great! You are the perfect voter!" haha!
I had to wait a couple of minutes for the lady to finish up another "customer" at the computer and then they input my info. She also saw my card and commented that I was the "perfect voter." I take it they prefer the card because all they have to do is scan the bar code and it autofeeds the info into the computer. Well, the printer jammed and they had to close that terminal and were going to get a tech to look at it, but they printed my form off the other computer's printer.
I was in and out in ten minutes nonetheless.
Go, Dubya, go !!!!
I voted straight ticket GOP, as my tagline has been advertising for a while now.
Get out there, folks, and vote for Dubya !!
As soon as I get off work today!!! ALL GOP ALL THE WAY...
Just how many imperfect voters do you suppose they get??

Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my Texas ping list!. . .don't be shy.
No, you don't HAVE to be a Texan to get on this list!
haha! I think I was the only one with my card. Everyone else appeared to have their Drivers License, which is okay, too. They just have to find you in the system, I think.
Yay !! :^D
You voted for W so you are the perfect voter. I dropped off my absentee ballot for CO last Friday.
Bump a few other folks to my little vanity thread (pardon for duplicate pings here) .....
I wanted to be first to vote in my precinct in Randall County (south half of Amarillo). Got there 5 minutes before polls opened...a line OUT THE DOOR!!! Probably 40 people ahead of me, so I didn't wait. Went back a few minutes ago to try again...even worse! Randall County will probably go 70-80% Bush.
I plan to vote early too.......this one is too important to wait for the last day......... ;^)
I'm voting later today. I'll check and see how the early turn-out is proceeding.
You voted for W so you are the perfect voter. I dropped off my absentee ballot for CO last Friday.haha! That is exactly what I was thinking also. Go, Dubya, go!
Hey, voting early like that is the only way to go - beating the crowd on Nov. 2nd! (And if we meet with disaster before November 2nd, our vote still goes in!) ....
What exactly is "early voting"? I know what voting by absentee ballot is, but I've never heard of actually showing up at a polling place before election day.
I will be punching the straight GOP ticket this time too. Collin County put a copy of the ballot on their election website so I was able to look it over before polls open today.
My mother-in-law will also be punching the straight GOP ticket now that Ralph Hall has switched to the GOP. She is in his district and always voted for him even though he was officially a Dem.
I am off to the polling place in a few minutes to cast my early vote for Dubya too.
What's the advantage to voting early vs waiting until 11/2?
Here, you just wave your card in reply to their, "Mornin' Jenny!", and stamp the computer printout as you're dragging the kiddoes to the voting tables. One advantage to living in the boonies is they know when someone rises from the grave and attempts to vote.
You really don't want to wait until 11/2, unless you want to spend a couple of hours in line waiting to vote.
kerry is pushing HARD in FLA to vote early...my theory is twofold. 1) he wants word to leak out that more dems are voting (if they are in fact heeding his words) and 2) he's very worried something is coming out in the next 2 weeks to change minds.
I got there 15 minutes early - 6 ahead of me. The man behind me has a son who was just sent to Iraq, and one who just got back. One is in the Screaming Eagles. The man ahead of me was formerly in the Army. Several people back were dims. There were about 20 in line when I left.
