Here are the numbers of voters through Thursday 10-21:
North Carolina (and I suspect a few other Southern states) don't have true one lever/button straight ticket voting. Votes for Pres./VP are separated from the rest of the ticket so that a voter must choose twice. If only the straight ticket button is pushed, no vote for President is cast. Evidently, this dates from the time that Southerners voted for the Republican for President and local Dems feared the repercussions.
Whatever, there is no substitute for reading the fine print voting instructions and finding out who the conservatives are for so-called nonpartisan races.
Man, that's crazy. Glad we don't do that here. Of course, if we
did, I would MANUALLY vote for GOP only, so it wouldn't
STOP me, just slow me down a bit in the booth.
Thanks. Voted this morning. Quite a few people were there to vote early. I voted in Missouri City.
You're welcomed! And way to go.Go, Dubya, go !!

According to the above linked thread North and South Carolina are the only two states that have that quirk you mentioned...... Don't know how accurate that is.
Last presidential election, you could just walk in to the early voting place and vote in 5 minutes or less, no wait. Today, we waited in a long line and it took 45 MINUTES. Huge turnout going on here.
When a straight ticket is not a straight ticket......The more people know about this the better. I will occasionally vote for a Democrat for a local office, if I'm assured that it's a good choice or the Republican is a goofball, but, normally, straight Republican is a a better choice.
Yay! Bump! :^D
Looks like voting is quite BRISK so far, eh??? :^D

Did you note Collin county? Almost 19% of registered voters
have already voted. That's 95% BUSH votes too, I bet!
I voted on Saturday (Harris Co - Freeman Library) and had to wait 1 1/2 hours in line. They said it's been like that every day.
Lots of Bush voters! :^D
I voted today at our Mall, only took 10 minutes. I seemed to have hit at a good time as they reported that it was taking 45 minutes for most people.
They are using a computer to find your name, then they print out a paper with that information on it and you sign it. Wish they had to do that everywhere.
Sounds like the same system I used, too.Just SIX days until Bush is re-elected! :^D
