One of the best articles I have seen.
From "Modern Times", his quote summarizing THE lesson of the 20th century: :
"The power of the State to do good is the power of the State to do evil."
Also, I join an earlier poster is recommending "Intellectuals", one of the most insightful books I have ever read.
EVERY freeper needs to (carefully) read this article to help solidify why the stakes are so VERY high in this election!
President Bush MUST be reelected!!

Misty, thank you for the ping. This is a GREAT read!
Thanks for the bump!
Thanks, Meek!
You don't receive every reply/post I make, but I would be happy to remove you from those you do receive. However, I can't because your name is not on my list. Perhaps you have another name that it appears under? An old name? If you could let me know what that is, I will be happy to remove you from the list. Private mail might be better.
LOL!
You are welcome. I am glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks. I nominate this Brit as an American patriot.
Of Kerry's backers, maybe the most prominent is George Soros

I cannot recall any election when the enemies of America all over the world have been so unanimous in hoping for the victory of one candidate. That is the overwhelming reason that John Kerry must be defeated...
Hard to narrow down the quotable quotes in this article but these are two of my favorites. Excellent find!
Thanks for the ping, oWf!
Great analogy. With your permission, I'd like to make it my new tagline.
Excellent article, very very good.
Thanks for posting this important essay...will read later
Get his Modern Times for a general history of the 20th Century, and Intellectuals, which is a humourous deflation of such inflated individuals as Tolstoy, Marx and Chomsky, the men who would be dictators of us lesser souls.
Prof. Johnson is a conservative and a practicing Christian (RC), and he holds fast to the idea that the West has a lot of good in it. No surprize to see him choose good over evil in this election.

I knew a fellow from England who came to the US after 9-11, rented a car and put American Flags on it and then drove it around for a couple weeks before going back to England. It was his way of showing his support.
