Dramatic development in the fight for the Right to Life and the standing of pro-abortion Catholic politicians.
Today, in EWTN's news magazine The World Over, canon lawyer Marc Balestrieri revealed that the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has certified that the Church's condemnation of abortion is part of Catholic doctrine and of natural law, and as such, any one who publicly contradicts this doctrine is guilty of heresy and incurrs an automatic excommunication.

Earlier this year, Marc Balestrieri filed a heresy lawsuit against Senator John F. Kerry for his public and obstinate support of abortion rights. This lawsuit remains active in the tribunal of the Archdiocese of Boston. Today, Mr. Balestrieri announced in the same program that he will file new charges against the most egregious offenders, including Senator Ted Kennedy (D-Mass) and Susan Collins (R-Maine), whose pro-abortion voting record is well known.

Some of them are very intelligent and hold down responsible, professional jobs. I was starting to resent them, but that is self-defeating. Some of them are very nice people people.
That is what makes it so hard for me. I love the friendly, outgoing liberals over dour, legalistic conservatives.
I'm trying to have it both ways. I don't know how far you can go with it. Try to be kind and tolerant of all, inwardly and outwardly, but do my own conservative thing.
It's a real trial for me. I don't want to spend the rest of my life being mad at people like that. And I have a natural tendency to get mad at people who do things that I think are seriously questionable ethically.
I still have some ethical reservations about some of the things Republicans do, too. But abortion and the other life issues that have already taken so many of our own innocents override the other things.
Thank you Fred. I do not like playing Devil's advocate, and I am glad to be soundly defeated.
(No. No sarcasm.)
Thanks for sharing your perspective with me. I'll go to your home page and check out your further comments.
The church exists to challenge the state, the state must either follow the church or regulate it; and round and round it goes.
Anyone that claims Christ and votes for sKerry is sorely self-deceived...
The Washington Times might print this but I doubt if anyone else will. Keep praying. Whenever any SKerry rep is on TV while they speak I say the St. Michael prayer, the Glory Be, and the Fatima prayer out loud then I never have to listen to them talk.
Welcome to Free Republic. I pray that Senator Kerry see the light and stop claiming to be a Catholic while uttering heresy almost within the same breath.
Automatic excommincation is also the result of heresy.
Canon. 1364 §1 An apostate from the faith, a heretic or a schismatic incurs a latae sententiae excommunication, without prejudice to the provision of Can. 194 §1, n. 2; a cleric, moreover, may be punished with the penalties mentioned in Can. 1336 §1, nn. 1, 2 and 3.
For more information, I would suggest one read and study Ad Tuendam Fidam and the CDF's commentary on "Professio Fidei".
The Church's teaching on the grave immorality of direct and volutary killing of an innocent human being requires the "assent of theological faith". To deny or doubt this results in heresy, an offense which incurs automatic excommunication.
No equivocations to the contrary are legitimate.
All I want to know is when I can start selling the marshmellows on a stick.
Auto-de-fe!
Oh, crud! I forgot; the Church doesn't believe in capital punishment anymore. :-(
I was never voting Kerry and neither were any prayer community Catholics.
Maybe the luke warm Christians might.
Is it really!! My understanding is that Catholic Charismatics control OSV now.
You seen this yet???
No, first I've seen this one. Thanks.

Actually, the Church still recognizes capital punishment as valid. (CCC art.2266). Despite the protestations of this current "conservative" Pope. OTH, should government have that much power over life and death?
Looks like a scene from The Blues Brothers.
