I'm calling it for Bush today, 10/15/2004.
Bush 320 Electoral Votes, Kerry 218 Electoral Votes.
Looks good to me... But "W" may get a few more than you show...
It needs to be strong enough to render any liberal/DNC law suits or challenges mute from the get go.
It also needs to be large enough that Bush can claim a mandate without being laughed at. And it needs enough coat tails so he can get things through the Senate. He needs to win all the close Senate races in Bush Country; especially, Daschle must lose! Otherwise we'll see another 4 year stall and Hillary will run claiming Bush never got anything done. If Bush does this the Senate RHINOs and enough weak RAT Senators in Bush states will go along to end the stalemate. The current House, granting DeLay's firm hand in control, is adequate for Bush's needs, but a bigger cushion would be nice there too.
Maybe so, but I'd sure like a LOT of gravy this time around.
When it comes to thought process, you remind me of a female Charles Krauthammer, and that's a compliment to both of you. :-)
It's a shame what happened at your church. It's a sign of the times but a bitter pill to swallow anyway.
You're right about the stealing of this election. It's all out. They aren't even trying to hide it except for blaming the republicans for doing the same thing.
I second Jeff's statements about your commitment and eloquence. Thank you for both, Joanie.
We could still lose from this map OH, OR, IA, WI, and NH and still win with 272.
No wonder. It was a dangerous mission behind enemy lines ;-)
But looking on the bright side, at least we Americans can still talk about politics even if one side isn't receptive. We haven't progressed to the open-violence stage like rightless societies always do.
America has always been a dangerous place, but the source of the danger was always either nature itself, or the occasional criminal. In the past, we were mostly free to live our lives as we thought best, using our brains and brawn against nature. To protect our ability to do so, we had the the law and the government to protect our individual rights against the criminal class or the mob.
We never had to worry about our neighbors voting on how we must live our lives (at least until the Roosevelt administration anyway.)
That's why there is a growing fear among people these days.
There have always been stupid, violent people among us but, being stupid and violent, they didn't prosper and were no factor in our lives. Even if such people banded together into a mob, our Constitution stood as a barrier between them and the proper living of our lives.
After all, what could they do to us? How could they stop us from doing what we thought best?
In the past they couldn't have, but now...who can tell?
Thanks to television, the government schools, and the government itself bombarding society with the constant drumbeat of democracy... democracy... democracy, people think that they have the "right" to vote on anything they want to.
Your neighbor is too successful? Vote to take away his money.
Your neighbor is too free? Vote to chain him down.
America is a democracy, right? That's what we learned in school.
Well, enough ranting for this morning.
As to your church being robbed, there is a special place in hell for someone who would rob a church. I hope you don't start locking the building because of this.
OTOH, I would think real hard about protecting that valuable sheet music. It was probably some kids who robbed you, and if they come back they might just decide to trash the place.
Sure enough...but we can also win NJ, MI, NM, OR (I don't show OR in the Kerry camp here) and MN. We shall see.
I think you're wrong about Florida. They have all the dems registered two or three times here by now. The register to vote people were everywhere and I see tons more Kerry signs than any Bush signs. I saw this stupid girl on the corner of an intersection yesterday in Pompano Beach with a Kerry sign all by herself waving to people.
We shall see...but I still believe Florida will go Bush.
Good post Joanie.
Thanks!
Do Amish vote?
After much thought, let me say this about that, I'm calling it for God.
They are planning to steal this election through a combination of lies, voter fraud, and judicial interference. And they are claiming that 'our side' is perpetrating the same, so that the average voter will believe that the lies and fraud are a wash when, in reality, the leftists have a corner on the deceit and corruption, and the conservatives commit both only by convenient, unfounded leftist accusation. Yet most voters are incapable of discerning the difference.
This is how this election is being run in 2 paragraphs. We probably wont know the results for weeks and the vote will definitely be skewed left.
I see Bush signs and bumper stickers 15-1 around Orlando. I was in Broward County two weeks ago and saw more Bush stickers than Kerry.
i think the sticker count can be interesting, but is not an indictor on the election. Also it can vary from neighborhood to neighborhood and city to city. There is broad support for Bush among Republicans. There is a smaller, angry group of people who hate Bush. There are a lot of ignorant voters that are left-leaning that will end up voting Kerry becuase they like the 'free' stuff from the Democrats. The difference in the election is going to be strong turnout of the Bush base, and pulling a good percentage of those middle voters by appealing to the belief of limited government and strong national defense. Mostly at this point, on thr gorund, it's GOTV.

I hope and pray that Bush wins. If not this country is going down the crapper and I am personally going to be crushed. Coming from a 5 generation military family we know how supporting the troops is critical to success in any war and I fear for the lives of our brave men and women if we have that traitor in the White House.
"Unles there is soething inthe future about PA, Bush is pulling troops and money out of PA and reducing ads."
As a proud citizen of PA, I have to say this is true. The Kerry ads on TV here outnumber the Bush adds about 4-1. There are Bush yard signs starting to pop up everywhere though. Yard signs are going about 3-1 to Bush on my drive to work and my work poll is Bush-6, Kerry-1, Undecided-2. Unfortuntely, the national headquarters of my company is in Boston, so were strongly outnumbered company wide.
