I hope this is good
bump
no problem...we still hear rumors of it, but I feel certain something so public domain like that would have surfaced by now. This is different because it seems Navy Chief has the connections to acquire the USG documents that have been squirred away to protect Kerry's run for the White House. After all the crap outfits like CBS have thrown at Bush for supposedly missing some physicals, this is huge. But again, no matter what, the Bush Haters will not turn around...but they might stay home if Kerry collapses in the polls.
Frankly, I still fear this will not get legs...and fizzle.
LBJ, former arty officer that he was, actually plotted out fire support missions, along with McNamara, from the Oval Office.
Talk about high mucky-mucks getting into the middle of straight-leg grunt operations.....
Read "Stolen Valor" by BG Burkett. Great book!
This should have gotten more play...Schanberg is the NYT reporter whose story about Dith Pran and the Cambodian holocaust won him the Pulitzer Prize. This simply highlights how a story by a reporter like Schanberg gets no legs...and how in the tank the MSM is for any Dem running against Bush. I give Schanberg credit for digging into the story.
My memory is that Nison promised to end the war with honor. McGovern was a socialist loser.
"During my campaign for the Presidency, I pledged to bring Americans home from Vietnam. They are coming home. I promised to end this war. I shall keep that promise. I promised to win a just peace. I shall keep that peace. I shall keep that promise. We shall avoid a wider war. But we are also determined to put an end to this war... I have rejected all political considerations in making this decision. Whether my party gains in November is nothing compared to the lives of 400,000 brave Americans fighting for our country and for the cause of peace and freedom in Vietnam.
Whether I may be a one-term President is insignificant compared to whether by our failure to act in this crisis the United States proves itself to be unworthy to lead the forces of freedom in this critical period in world history. I would rather be a one-term President and do what I believe is right than to be a two-term President at the cost of seeing America become a second-rate power and to see this nation accept the first defeat in its proud 190-year history."
--Nixon regarding Cambodia
That's not the Burkett that forged the GWB documents is it?
Nope.
No way, this is a Nam vet who has done incredible research about "oretend" combat vets and phonies. JFK is mentioned in the book.
Somebody come across with the goods! (At least rational theories.)
No, that was Bill Burkett.
Good Night All! Thanks for all the info! I've learned a lot tonight.
I will get it. Just finished Unfit for Command. Ready for another one. Got Ann Coulter's book coming from Ebay.
Thank you too, for the clarification, Hill's. I'd love to see a film that showed Hairnet Guy inspecting his fingernails as his buds desecrated OUR flag. I can just see him manicure-inspecting as our Stars and Stripes BURNED.
When's trash day? I could put him out at MY curb tomorrow--not a moment too soon doncha think?
Upset tummy over here too, Blogger.
He was transferred to the Ready Reserve on Jan 3, 1970, expected to do 48 drills per year. He was transferred to Standby Reserve in July, 72 and discharged 2-16-78.
Well, since they have accused Bush of disobeying an order to get a physical, you can bet that Kerry disobeyed an order. The democrats have a habit of accusing others of whet they themselves have done.
Whether that's what this is about or not, I have no idea.
Yup. They cost a lot of lives and made a lot of vets angry. That's why Kerry was able to drum up some of his support. Those poor guys didn't know they were being used all over again by Kerry. What an a$$. The Dems have never had it right.
This is not about what the President or his campaign is doing. It is what some highly motivated Vietnam veterans are doing.
The restraint the President has shown on this issue is nothing short of remarkable considering the anal exam the press has been giving him over his exemplary Air National Guard service.
And don't confuse BG Burkett with Bill Burkett. They are two very different men.
I just bought it off of Ebay. Look forward to reading it!
