XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX
DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?
Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:
"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."
So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?
What did Kerry place on the podium?
Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.
[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]
A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.
"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."

The difference between Kerry smuggling in contraband - and a violation of the rules in using video from the debate is BIG. With the video, Kerry in his usual style can blame others. For his cheating he can't.
His cheating may not be a criminal offense, but anyone who really opposes Kerry would not try to suppress this issue. It fits to well all the character and integrity problems Kerry, the Dems and their MSM supporters are already having.
Nor would those who oppose Kerry claim that absent proof of what the contraband was there "was no cheating." ( See above.."...or other tangible things") Save that spin to the Clintonistas on the Kerry staff.
Or maybe it was just a cheat sheet for the Global Test.
Well what does he do at the end? Does it go back in his pocket?
Yea Baby
Sean, Laura I., Ann Coulter, Brit Hume are all drooling over their computers right now.
Another thought. Fox was in charge of the cameras for this debate. The other networks were not involved. Perhaps Kerry didn't know that back camera was there?
I know that Rush has the money and capibility to have his guys look at 400 zoom at everything. Kerry's eyes. Kerry's hands. What was Kerry doing every second.
And our classy President as well. Did he see the note card? There was definitely a weird expression there.
Rush and Fox are zooming and are absolutely going to pin this down for uminpeachable degree of credibilty before they touch this.
It is not a pen. Kerry was not suppose to bring anything to the podium or to PUT anything ADDITIONAL on the podium. Kleenex. Pen. Paper. Glasses. NaDa. Also he put what ever it was BACK into his pocket.
Dems think we are all pinheads. After all we elected Clinton after they sold him down our throats. Ginnefer doesn't matter and then Monica put sex talk on the National News for our kids to hear for 2 years.
If Kerry was cheating here - God help us - they are going to vote him out and put Hillary in at the last moment. Think it can't happen?
Ony 2/3 of the Democrat Delegates have to vote for it.
Joe Lockhard probably set Kerry up for this.
I wonder if he got any tips on cheating from Admiral Kennedy?
Other videos are showing it was a piece of paper (card sized)
It was right after Kerry wouldnt let go of Bush hand during the handshake
Okay, I'm just catching up to this thread and I think this is dynamite if true. The question I have is this: Everyone knows that Kerry took notes. How do we know that he wasn't simply pulling out his blank note cards? Were note cards provided and already on the desk?

I wish I had 24/7! I'll be in class during almost all of Rush's show, and I've missed too much to miss for this (plus missing for election day...)

"I think it looks very fishy. But it could be a trick. He's a bit too blatant about it, perhaps he's hoping to stir up just such a reaction by the PJ Brigade and it will turn out to be something totally harmless and make everyone look bad. Could have been a folded hankie, don't know if that's legit or not. Seeing as how he sweats so much and all. Waiting for higher resolution tape."
If it is a "tangible" item, he broke the rules. Nothing tricky about that. Even a hanky is "tangible" and should have been presented before the debate. The DNC response shows they were caught flat-footed. The PJ Brigade must drive on to the objective.
LOL!! Well, hope springs eternal, eh?
Yes, I agree with you! Often it starts at Drudge and others eventually come around. I'd love for Imus to hit on this tomorrow!
Precisely! Everything these days is shot at vastly higher resolution for archive than normal broadcast mediums will support. You can pull surprising detail out of archive that wouldn't seem possible judging from broadcast footage.
For example, Janet Jackson's nipple.
