XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX

DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?

Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:

"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."

So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?

What did Kerry place on the podium?

Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.

[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]

A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.

"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."

I think it is no accident that the source for the high-resolution pictures shows Bush from this particular angle.

I think this is a massive set-up, and I can't figure out of Drudge is stupid, or just craven.

By golly I think you have it distraction with the left hand that is higher than the podium while the real object is in his right hand hidden by his body from the crowd...then on top of the podium it is opened or unfolded and if caught he can claim it was a pen..

Whatever the president is doing with his hands, he did not pull anything out of his jacket. Whatever he was manipulating was on the desk already. Kerry is NOT just fiddling with papers already there, he is manipulating whatever it was that he has taken out of his pocket. Huge difference

If Kerry was cheating here - God help us - they are going to vote him out and put Hillary in at the last moment. Think it can't happen?

Don't think it's likely, but it would be great. Not even Her Highness could be elected under such circumstances. It's not like he died, which would lead to a sympathy vote perhaps, but rather because he, and thus his party, would be disgraced.

It appears what ever bounce what Skerry got from the debate has just been obliterated and whatever chance he had at the presidency has been severely undermined. I hope the turds over at DU are choking on this.

He was checking things off a list at times. Of course, he might have been checking off handwritten notes he made while Bush was speaking.

Look at it again--

The President is seen clearly unfolding something--or, at least it's close enough to look that way. Watch it, without looking at Kerry.

I think this was a set up from the start, and SIMPLY NO ACCIDENT that this piece of footage was used. I think whoever put this out did this for a very different agenda than the one currently assumed.

I think Bush lifts the paper that is on the podium partially up, then puts it back down.

"I think this is a massive set-up"

What in the world are you talking about. Bush never takes anything out of his pockets.

Bush was picking up a pen from the podium.

You can even tell from behind that his arms did not move in the way they would have to for one of them to reach inside his coat.

Bush took nothing out of his pockets, just began writing on the paper supplied on the podium.

Yup, if the DUmmies are linking those hurricanes to Bush do you really think they wouldn't have noticed if Bush were taking something from his jacket by now? He didn't. He just began writing, maybe lifted a paper partially up. Nothing taken out of his coat.

Watching the video again, the slo-mo one, it's interesting to see that Bush was looking in Lurch's direction, and didn't look down to his own podium until after Lurch pulled his hand out of his jacket.

W caught him doing that. He must have known from that moment that there'd be trouble.

Uh, Bush took the pen off of the legal pad in front of him.

Are you blind?
