President Bush has joked that John Kerry should debate himself. I've got a similar suggestion for Bill O'Reilly of Fox News. He should interview himself. He has achieved financial success by appealing to conservatives, but went on the CBS 60 Minutes show last Sunday sounding like a liberal. He told the program that he is pro-gun control, anti-death penalty, and pro-gay adoption "as a last resort." O'Reilly also offered the opinion that conservative critics of the Al Gore theory of global warming are "idiots."
A self-described "journalist" who dismissed Rush Limbaugh as a mere "entertainer," O'Reilly told Mike Wallace of 60 Minutes that he might vote for John Kerry, whom he described as a "patriot" he has known for 25 years. O'Reilly denounced the Swift Boat vets' ads against Kerry as "awful" and "terrible."
Nine days earlier, however, on his own "O'Reilly Factor" show on the Fox News Channel, O'Reilly had said that Kerry acted in a "craven" manner when he came back to the U.S. after the Vietnam War "by besmirching all the fine soldiers in Vietnam" when he called them war criminals. While interviewing John O'Neill, co-author of the anti-Kerry book, Unfit for Command, O'Reilly said, "I enjoyed your book."
Some observers suspect that O'Reilly, after having secured an interview with President Bush, is desperate to get an interview with Kerry before the election. In fact, when Kerry advisor James Carville appeared on his show on September 23, O'Reilly virtually begged Carville to set up a Kerry interview for him.

Actually. if Bill O'Reilly had any brains (which he doesn't), he would declare he is voting and supporting GW Bush. Pandering to John Kerry will curry him no favor with the vermin, liberal scum. They will put a dagger in his ribs in a New York minute, no matter how he caters to "Traitor" John Kerry. In fact, by turning right, O'Reilly will not only increase his conservative numbers, he will also gain millions of left-wingers who will want to keep tabs on the enemy. Unfortunately Mr. O'Reilly is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I wouldn't read too much into that one particular statement. For years, Rush himself has said that he is (A) not a journalist and (B) primarily an entertainer.
However, I will concede that those words sound particularly snide when O'Reilly says them....
I have been convinced of this for a while now. I think it is no small coincidence that it was CBS and Mike Wallace that he was sucking up to.
Last night he was equating SBVs for Truth to MoveOn.org
Anyone this lazy or disingenuous, does not deserve your time or mine.
BOR is not particularly smart. He was befuddled by Michael Moore and did not even try to take on James Carville. He is notably ignorant on anything of a technical or scientific nature such as "global warming". I now refuse to watch or listen to the bloviated fool. When I listen to Rush I learn things and get intelectually challenged. When I used to listen to BOR I just got disappointed and bored.
"I understand he is trying to be "independant" but damn
the swift vets have been rock solid since day one, and his lefty pandering will not get him the interviews he wants."
My wife and I used to watch him, but we started seeing him drift to his now pandering left-leaning self when his popularity went to his head. He has become attracted to the left's attention as so many before him. He has forgotten, we are the ones who got him there.
Bill should have done a quid pro quo with Kerry before writing his blurb endorsing the Brinkley/Kerry's Tour of Duty.
Gee, they've known each other for 25 years, and BOR still can't get an interview with the guy?
I quit watching O'Reilly a few years ago when he got in a shouting match with some guy. I couldn't stand to listen to me let alone watch him since. I have been watching the George Bush interviews but turn to another channel afterwards.
I couldn't stand to listen to him (or me yelling at the tv) is what I was trying to say.
Heh.
Scarborough has been really squishy on other Republican topics, but he's had the best Rathergate coverage by far, with the heaviest hitters.
I bet that if you got inside O'Reillys head you would find a ruthless ratinsg hunter, no real passion for ideas. O'Reilly ropadopes allot.
You have to know that Rush is very very computer savvy-like Drudge- and I doubt that O'Reilly knows html or the web.O'Reilly is an old man. O'Reilly is not "New Media
