Allawi, the President of Iraq who daily risks his life for your comfortable lifestyle, is a Muslim. The President of Afghanistan, who fights the Taliban and Al Qaeda so you won't have to, is a Muslim. I think you should personally go over to the Middle East and kiss both their behinds.

"The blood of... men from these groups who died fighting for America answered the question then, to the disgrace of those who doubted their loyalty."
The question was answered, and the doubt was dispelled, but it is NOT now and was NOT then disgraceful to question and doubt, for there were then (and there are now) sufficiently weighty reasons for such doubts and questions.

I am in 100% agreement. Prepare to be attacked by the anti-Muslim masses...

When you show me a Radical Mormon slowly beheading a Muslim with a dull knife while chanting "God is Great!", or an Extremist Baptist raping teachers, forcing children to drink their own urine and then shooting them in the back on the first day of school, or a Radical Catholic blowing himself up on a bus full of innocents, or a Radical Jew torching humanitarian workers then hanging their charred corpses from a bridge while dancing in the streets, or Extremist Methodists flying jets into buildings, all while their fellow believers keep silent, rationalize their actions, or say "don't blame us" while secretly supporting their murderous ways, then, and only then, will your argument maybe hold some water.

Shared ethnicity probably had very little to do with it, as most Iraqi Christians are a linguistic as well as religious minority (Most of them speak Aramic as a first language), and many of the Christians are regarded as "foreigners" whose ancestors came into Iraq from elsewhere (which is true for the Coptic and Orthodox Christians, but not generally true of the Nestorians and Chaldeans). More likely, it's because they regarded Saddam's Baathist regime as a bulwark against Sunni and Shiite factions in Iraq, both of which they perceived as being more hostile towards Christianity.

I'd switch "Arab" to "Muslim" in that article.

"Are American Arabs Loyal?"

Most are Not loyal to Islam.

Most Arabs living in the U.S. are Christian.

(Many Christians from what's now Syria and Lebanon immigrated in after WWI. There are Maronites from Syria or Lebanon, Coptics from Egypt, among others).

"It is difficult to find even ballpark estimates of Arabs in America. Recent estimates range from 2 to 3 million, of whom 1.4 to 2.1 million would be Christians."

Martin Luther King was not assured a long happy life, but he did what had to be done. Are you telling me there is not a Muslim out there who thinks this cause is greater then themselves? There is no one who can rally the communities to save the culture? Imagine if everyone who was afraid never acted for what was right? This behind the scenes cooperation just attacks the symptom. The Muslim community must band together to cure the illness.

I will also note that I see many being out spoken against profiling. If they want to help through silence, let it be on both ends. We, as a nation founded on sacrifice, cannot accept there fear as a legitimate argument in fighting the war on terror. I know there are thousands of soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq rising above fear to protect us from this insidious evil and I would expect nothing less from the Muslim communities.

Most of us realize that there are good Muslim-Americans. How many? I really dont know. You dont either. Thats the crux of the problem. Our general misunderstanding of each-other has made it impossible to differintiate the good from the bad. My feeling is that there are very few actual militant Muslims in the US, but that there are a significant number of Muslims that to a certain degree sympathize with the terrorists. Then you have the majority that is afraid to speak out. Not a pretty picture. On top of that is a feeling that, if worse comes to worse, their loyalty to their religion trumps all.

But I for one will continue to try to understand and reach out to those that mean well

Hello: I am new at this so I am somewhat tentative. What follows is a note I sent to Mr. Jim Robinson of Free Republic. I think others should think about its contents also. My heart breaks and my revulsion burns. Lets get a grass roots march going... please!
"Dear Jim
I am writing this note to you because I do not know where to turn next. (It is not easy to find a "contact us" link in this website). Please help!
I wrote to Move America Forward last week regarding the atrocious beheadings of our Americans (and others) in Iraq. We need to stand up now and organize demonstrations and show the World our sheer anger at these unspeakable acts and the barbarism of these terrorists. Our Government could do with our support, also, especially before the election!! Move America Forward replied with "we agree" but I have not heard since.
Jim, It is vital we act now! I ask myself: where is the furor of all Americans with a conscience? We must not maintain our silence!!! It's deafening!
Thank you.
Lally"

I don't think Arab Americans are loyal but I do know this one Egyptian Copt who HATES Moslems - so much does he hate them that he wishes for Mecca and Medina to one day glow in the dark! No kidding.

See my comment #50. Most U.S. arabs are Christian.

I have to add your justification of their inaction, or limited action has upset me to a certain degree. That is also part of the problem. They need to be encouraged they are better then this. They need to be supported when they stand up and show outrage against the high jacking of their religion.

MYSELF I am sorry that I have been forced to distrust all of islam ,and muslimes and you are right ,that all muslimes are not terrorist, but the truth is that all terrorist are muslim, what do you expect of us as a nation ,when there is day after day ,brutality from the cult known as islam, and many do live right here in the US,I will not turn my back on common sense.

Would OBL or Hamas consider them true Muslims? God bless these men, truly. Truly brave men. But whats this about Allawi risking his life for my comfortable lifestyle? Maybe indirectly to a certain degree, but I wouldn't peddle that argument around too much.
