Massachusetts Democrat Brian Golden Endorses President Bush

Earlier today, Democratic Massachusetts State Representative Brian Paul Golden announced that he will support President Bush in November over fellow Bay State Democrat John Kerry. Golden’s endorsement comes after witnessing President Bush’s accomplishments on education, Medicare and security issues. In contrast, Golden says that after following John Kerry’s 20-year senate career in Massachusetts, he still doesn’t know what Kerry stands for.

“America needs a president who cares more about doing what is right than doing what is politically expedient. Both at home and abroad, President Bush has made tough decisions and shown a clarity of purpose that makes America stronger and safer,” Golden said.

“President Bush is the right candidate to lead America in the War on Terror because his decisions are based on principle, not politics. Senator Kerry demonstrated a troubling approach to the War on Terror by voting against $87 billion in funding to equip our troops in Iraq with essential supplies like body armor. I have confidence in President Bush as Chief Executive and I will proudly work for his re-election.”

Golden joins a long list of Democrats who have endorsed the President and have formed the Democrats for Bush coalition. Golden has served as a Massachusetts state representative since 1999 and he also serves on the education, arts and humanities, ways and means, government regulations and judiciary committees.

Hey all this is my first time posting hope I did it right.

Nice I guess, but it's not like Massachusetts is in play.

Oh, and this guy better watch is back. I don't think the union thugs will let him keep his office, ballotbox if possible, otherwise if not.

While I applaud his bold stance, it's almost certainly political suicide.

It wasn't political suicide when he endorsed Bush for President in 2000. :)

Golden's district is a big hodgepodge. The Brookline part is tiny and doesn't include the wealthy liberal areas that vote for Barney Frank and Ted Kennedy. His district is the Brighton neighborhood of Boston.

There are few voters in the district, because large numbers are students who don't know who their state rep. is or immigrants who don't have citizenship or don't care. Golden won his first primary by partnering with the Russian immigrants on housing issues and standing with them consistently. Ousting an incumbent Democrat in a primary is harder than moving boulders here in the People's Republic, so the libs in his district are too disorganized, too clueless, and too transient to do anything. Golden has excellent constituent services, the support of the House leadership, and good relations with the people who bother to vote. He's going to be in the House a long time.

He's liberal on the lunchbucket issues but with us (a rarity) on social issues. The endorsement will surprise no one who is into the political scene here, but maybe it will get some press among those who don't know more about Rep. Golden.

When I shower, I have to scrub a little harder to make sure I remove all of the residual scum from once being a DemocRAT

How long ago were you a rat? If you have been rat-free for 5 years, I think you can consider yourself an ex-rat, and live a long life to boot. And if you've been an ex-rat for 5 years, consider yourself Cured, and a Conservative!

He's a conservative Democrat in an urban district. The leadership likes him. He has no reason to switch parties. People in the know have been familiar with his conservative views for a long time, he endorsed Bush in '04, I'm so glad we can get a guy like that in a seat that might otherwise have elected yet another liberal Democrat.

If he switched parties he'd be out of office by the following November.

Ray Flynn endorsed Bush in 2000. I'll be shocked if he doesn't support Bush again. An ad featuring Flynn and Ed Koch would be great.

Here in Massachusetts he's signing his death warrant...

Disagree. The Boston Globe and other media outlets may present that as so, but the truth is, Liberalism is being contained here and that is mostly because of the leftists own excesses.

The Democrats in this State have been overplaying their hand for a long while now. Change is coming!

Thank you very much for the insight. Sounds like an interesting character---and we need more of his kind in the General Court.

You wouldn't happen to be Rep. Golden, would you?

Back in 79' when I turned 18, my Mom who is an old time DemocRAT populist of the Huey Long strain, instructed me to register as a DemocRAT "because Republicans are only for rich people".

Jimmah Karter was just elected President, and I didn't know better.

Then, a gang of Islamic thugs held our diplomats hostage in Iran, the Sandinistas took over Nicaragua (sp?), and the Soviets invaded Afganistan.

Karter's response was, coddling to the Iranians and Sandinistas, and boycotting the Olympics. That really showed the Soviets we meant business.

Then one day, I read a headline from the local paper quoting GOP candidate for President Ronald Reagan referring to the Iranians, "I will not negotiate with Barbarians".

That sealed it for me, and I voted for the first time in a Presidential election, and became one of those people known as a "Reagan Democrat". By the time 84' rolled around, I had switched parties, and to this day, I proudly remain a Republican.

FBF,

Now all we need the Police Dept of Springfield Mass to Endorse Him like they did his Dad, He he....

I lived not to far from there and actually got to see it live, it was pretty cool. I remember someone (Gloria Mitchell ?) being a real Smarmy $-tch that day, the local Conservative talk show guy at the time Bill Brady was all over it !

The Democratic Mayor(s) in Springfield never forgave them and stuck it to them every time at contract negotiations for the longest time.

Welcome to Massachusetts's retribution politics. This fellow is best to declare himself as a Republican !
