He's a conservative Democrat in an urban district. The leadership likes him. He has no reason to switch parties. People in the know have been familiar with his conservative views for a long time, he endorsed Bush in '04, I'm so glad we can get a guy like that in a seat that might otherwise have elected yet another liberal Democrat.
If he switched parties he'd be out of office by the following November.

I made my last post before reading yours(way past me bedtime) and I must say, I agree your way of thinking-better a conservative dem than a kool-aide drinking one-anytime!
but I still will thank him for his efforts for who knows, he may well run for prez one day...?
