Dayum. You're getting to be a good writer, as well as a good political philosopher. Too bad that 90% of the American public are culturally illiterate, and have never read
Animal Farm. Still, for those who understand your references, you've written a fine piece. (And yes, I understand why you explain each reference, so even non-readers of
Animal Farm can follow your drift.

It's high time someone pointed this out. JM Stein should be working for a magazine. The Clinton's fit perfectly into the Orwellian mold. Kerry/Edwards and their newly adopted Clintonians further the "Animal Farm" tradition. The working class will hopefully wake up before November to the fact that Kerry/Edwards are the greatest exploiters of them.

Excellent!
What is more chilling is the comparison is John Kerry to another American Hero. In 1876, the Democratic party was looking for a war Hero to head their ticket. One American army officer, thought that a glorious victory over the natives would lock up his nomination. This victory would open up the gold fields and make it easier for the Railroads to continue their western expansion. This officer had a history of testifying against an Republican administration in Congress. And of course, the Democrats were complaining about the Republican dealings with contractors who were handling relations with defeated and occupied nations. Most Freepers will recognize that I'm talking about George Armstrong Custer.

This is pretty good!
I always make it a point to keep a copy of "Animal Farm".
Did you see the movie they made a few years back?
Sort of like "Babe the Pig Goes Socialist"
It had Kelsy Grammer as the voice of Snowball and it was pretty good.

Uncanny! I had been thinking about similar comparisons to Animal Farm recently.... Jonathan, you have put into eloquent words that which many of us are thinking. Kudoes on an excellent and well-written piece!
