HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, September 17, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A sex manual, aimed at Nova Scotia school children from grade seven and older, has many parents fuming. The manual -- Sex? A Healthy Sexuality Resource -- contains subject materials totally inappropriate for children, according to a parents group, Parent Advocates for Accountability Group (PAAG).
As a result of parental concern, the proposed deadline for the release of the booklet has been extended from September 9 to the end of the month, giving parents time to review the 124 page document which tells children (among other things) that being 12 years old is a fine time to have sex with a 13 year old friend.
In a rhetorical question on the PAAG web-site, a parent asks: "Is it appropriate for Public Health and School Boards to dictate to parents when and how their children be introduced to some of the topics contained in 'Sex?' Are you prepared to sit down with your child and discuss all of the topics contained in the resource ( i.e. all forms of sexual intercourse, the low age of legal consent, what a vibrator is and the 'morning after' pill)?"
The manual authors suggest 12 years old may be an appropriate age for children to begin consensual sexual relations: ". . . a person who is 12 or 13 can consent to sexual activity but only with a person who is less than 2 years older than he or she is."
The authors also provide information on how to obtain contraceptives, as well as the "necessity" for a child to be carrying them at all times: "In many communities there are places where you can get inexpensive or free condoms and oral dams. For example: Planned Parenthood . . . Be prepared! Carry condoms and oral dams with you. If you don't need them, a friend might."
The manual also suggests abortion and abortifacient morning-after pills as acceptable options in case of unexpected pregnancy: "If your partner gets pregnant she has to make some difficult decisions-Adoption? Raising the baby? Abortion?" They also recommend that children can access this without parental consent: "You do not need your parents' permission to get ECP."

Too bad they don't emphasize "Sports - The Complete Manual" instead.
Whew........
Sounds like their schools are rife with pedophiles. Yet another reason to home school.
The leftist (progressive) agenda moves forward.
Ping!
I may be in a tiny minority, but I didn't even look at girls until I was a sophomore in high school. I just wasn't interested. Nothing was more fun to me than playing ball. Admittedly, I was among the last of my friends to find the opposite sex attractive, but I know from observing my own children those kinds of emotions don't normally occur until about eighth grade and in some kids it doesn't start until high school.
I wanna know if the authors, promoters and publishers would (if they have children) let thier kids do what the book teaches? I kinda doubt it.
Yikes.
Sex ed should be done by the parents. And that goes for this country too.
Put me on the ping list. I'm not cathloc, but I care about many of the same issues that cathlocs do.
What ever happened to Sixth graders learning about Geography, advanced math , The Body Systems, Solar Systems, Spelling, etc.?
Page 17 - discusses the low risk of STD's with "Anal sex with a condom and lubricant". This is for 12 year olds?!?!

I can't read any more. ARggghhh!!!
If you think it's not happening in your school, you're kidding yourself.
Yes, they seem to be getting into it at younger and younger ages these days. It's getting revolting. Then again, kids just imitate what they see in the popular culture and the pop culture is quite saturated with sex, not like when I was growing up. I have seen some TV shows where 12 year olds go on dates.
Britain has a big problem with girls getting pregnant at 13 and 14 years old. If this is the solution, then they are really going to the dogs.
I do fear for the souls of people who are so determined to rob children of their innocence. I am so glad that I homeschool and my kids don't know about most of those things yet.
Sadly they would probably encourage it. I have seen these types. My ex sister-in-law was such. She told her son "If you are going to use it, cover it".
Yes, indeed, a "date" for a 12-year-old girl would include all of hanging out with a boy at the playground during recess.
This is entirely disturbing.
There are many groups and organizations which support these programs for various reasons.
Planned Parenthood does it because it's good business. $400 cash per abortion. Children no longer need parental permission to undergo abortions in many states, and most school counselors refer children to Planned Parenthood.
Socialists, marxists and postmodernists seek to destroy the current social order by undermining the fundamental building block of society, the family. Fatherless and sexually active children are malleable and make great cannon fodder.
Homosexuals seek to normalize homosexuality. Some homosexuals want to recruit young men to their ranks. Others don't want homosexuality to be "suppressed."
Pedophiles want to inure children to promiscuity.
