A worried Matt Drudge reported on his radio show tonight that the Secret Service is on the trail of several people intent on assassinating President Bush.
Drudge said the news story is not his, but that "those in the know" know what he's talking about.
He said more will be reported in the coming days.
Drudge pleaded with his fellow Americans to let the political process play out and to not descend to killing presidential candidates.
True, but a Democrat back then wasn't what we would today call a "leftist."
You should become familiar with "Copperheads". Read up on them and then tell me if they were not like today's leftists.
I'll get you started:
"Remember, this is the party that didn’t want Lincoln to go to war, and were ready to cede the South from the Union (and therefore to slavery), being that most southerners were Democrats anyway. The term for the anti-war Democrats, especially in the North, was Copperheads, and I think we aught to resurrect that term today. Why should this surpise anyone. There is certainly at least 1% of the U.S. population who seriously believe that President Bush and his administration planned 9/11 in order to undermine democracy and further other diabolical causes of the evil Republicans. This would amount to somewhere around 2500K+ people. Among those 2500K+ people there will surely be some small percentage who will willingly act on those firmly held beliefs - let's say 0.1% as a (very) conservative estimate. That leaves at least 2500 people.
Wondered what was up with Kilborn "quiting"(wink,wink) his show... LoL... AH! HAH!... must've given some network lawyers the hives that bit.. Did'nt see it but the Craigster stepped in some super-glue-doo-doo on that one.. Will be cleaning off his feet for years...
The Zero factor has to do with when the president was "first" elected. It has nothing to do with when a president was re-elected, so the year of Lincoln's assassination is irrelevant.
I bet those who are planning it are peace-loving, non-violent, pro-gun control liberals. Or Dan Rather.

Was using the search menu to find "assasination attempt on Pres. Bush and this website was one that came up: 2-4 Weeks Before the Presidential Election Note: I am a Democrat and NOT a fan of Bush, yet my heart hurts like crazy at the thought of what's going to happen to George W. About 4 weeks before the election, George W. will be making a speech at an elementary school, and upon his exit (outside the elementary school) he will be gunned down in a firestorm of bullets that will also injure several children and kill a young blonde haired, blue eyed nine year old boy as well. The scene will be reminiscent of the assasination of Robert F. Kennedy. I feel the school may be in Florida - the SPACE COAST to be exact, like in Titusville or Cocoa Beach. The country will be in terrible shock, the insane Arab-American gunman will be painted as an Anti-Bush John Kerry devotee and as a result, Kerry and his running mate John Edwards will respectfully drop out of the race... allowing Dick Cheney to run uncontested... However, just days before the election, Howard Dean (who will join the race LAST minute) will be unsurprisingly defeated. Barbara Bush will have a massive heart-attack 2 weeks after her son's death and never fully recover. The economy will go into a major tailspin but stabilize upon the re-election of Dick Cheney. DICK CHENEY WILL SERVE 2 TERMS AS PRESIDENT and keep us at war THE WHOLE TIME... against the faceless "terrorists". He will turn out to be the country's MOST UNLIKED PRESIDENT OF ALL TIME. By the end of his second term, 80% of Americans will believe that he was the driving force behind Bush's murder. Why He Did It: At the end of August, Bush campaigns that if re-elected, he will pull ALL military personnel out of the Middle East as a result of the Miami terrorist attacks. This news makes Americans happy and the defense industry furious. They approach Cheney and promise to give him the power and the hit on Bush if he STAYS AT WAR WITH IRAQ and the Middle East. Believe it or not, Libya's Kadafi was even asked to "supply" the hitman to kill Bush in exchange for favorable relations and Lots of $$$ to him and his country. In other words, this is the JFK assasination all over again. That's all. I pray I am just a creative, insane person or that all of this will be stopped in time. I pray I am wrong and that this is just my imagination.

I have a theory that far left groups led by Soros are one of three controlling elements within the DNC and are using this election as a means of consolidating power and building a global far left movement. Insofar as they are vehemently anti-American, their interests and objectives align perfectly with Islamic extremists. I would expect such an unholy alliance to be the nexus of any violent actions against our elected officials.

This could never come from a lunatic fringe lefty. They don't believe in the use of fire arms. They must be planning to use a sling shot.
I think the theory is that presidents elected in a year ending in zero (as Abraham Lincoln was in 1860) die in office, even if that death does not occur until after a subsequent election. At least that's my understanding. I'm not a proponent of the theory, just trying to clarify. Although it would seem that Reagan disproves it.
Not that I don't believe someone wants GWB dead, but,doesn't Drudge often come up with these sensational type of headlines on the night of his show?
And - you can bet they have contacts w/terrorists.....and can orchastrate Iraq events
The backlash against Communist RATs would be intense, ferocious and no quarter would be given...no quarter, anywhere at any time.
Given the two attempts on President Ford in the middle 1970's and the unsuccessful assassination attempt on President Reagan in 1981, not to mention the potential al-Qaeda terrorist threat since 11 September 2001, I think President Bush will always have very tight security around him to prevent such an unfortunate tragedy.
If someone were to get to Bush before the election, do these wannabe assassins really think we'd elect Kerry? President Cheney by a landslide.
It wasn't that the president elected in years ending in zero died in that term. It was just that those presidents elected every 20 years starting with William Henry Harrison, died in office. President Franklin D. Roosevelt died almost four months into his fourth term to which he was elected in 1944. Everyone counts him in the list, because he was also elected in 1940. I am worried about nuts who would try to make that "curse" continue. I was glad when Reagan finished his second term and seemingly break the "curse".
