IUPAT issues apology
IUPAT website ^ | JohnK

Posted on 09/17/2004 10:45:29 AM PDT by jsk10

The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades believes in the fundamental right for civil discourse, freedom of speech and activism to support our candidates and issues.

What happened in Huntington, West Virginia yesterday is an affront to everything we, as a union, pride ourselves to represent. We extend our apologies to the Parlock family, especially Sophia, for the distress one of our overzealous members caused them.

I have personally taken steps to address this issue internally, and will take immediate disciplinary action to the fullest extent allowed under U.S. Department of Labor regulations and the constitution of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.

It is my hope that this incident reminds all of our members that every last citizen in this country has the right to express his or herself freely. Not one single one of us has the right to tell them otherwise.

It was the only thing they could do. That little sorrowful face, on that sweet girl ---- right next to an IUPAT sign was devastating to them. Would they have done it if there wasn't a union thug ------ er, member,---- standing beside her?

Hey, I think that was a pretty good apology...and I believe the guy will be disciplined because the publicity hurt the union if for no other reason

I don't want it buried on the news page. This should be on the home page for every visitor to see immediately.

of course the union leader is going to issue an apology...because it was caught by an AP photographer....

i've worked with union guys my whole career, and there are some really good guys that i have been friends with for years, but the vast majority of them are hardcore slackers because it is pretty near impossible to get fired from a union job....
i'd guess this guy will, at most, be placed on unpaid leave for a short period, just in case anyone follows up on what action was taken.....after it blows over, the union will have him back on the job, with backpay for time he missed, with overtime.

you may think i'm kidding, but i'm completely 'series'

I p*ss on his apology, and I $h*t on his union and all @$$hole unions! From now on I`ll make every effort to buy nonunion products!

And I still say let some @$$hole union thug try to take my sign away. I`ll have a special handle on them for just such a situation from now on, made of nice THICK hickory. They like to pick on little girls, ok. LET THEM TRY THAT $#IT WITH ME!

So I was right about the dad. I knew he wasn't trusting. He likes making the other party look bad but he should have known it would catch up with him. I really despise him for using his 3 year old to do it!

First, this was not a dangerous situation. This was a public place in the United States of America, not even a space licensed for a partisan demonstration. And it was in public with cameras and witnesses all around. If one cannot expect to be safe with children in the open like that, then where can one expect to be safe? If the other side doesn't care about being seen commiting acts of violence, then one could say that demonstrating, voicing an opinion or even openly wearing a button anywhere is a dangerous situation.

I applaud Mr. Parlock for having the courage to take his family out to exercise their constitutional rights. And I am glad that DemonRats had yet another opportunity to show that they are still the party of "Bull" Connor and violence, albeit with a different direction. Sofia Parlock and her Dad on multiple occasions have done more to expose them than most and should be applauded for it.

Blaming the victim in any way is justifying the violence, no matter what you say. And sharing the blame just plays into the hands of the real perpetrators.

I do hope Parlock won't put his children in this type of situation again.

What . . situation? There wasn't any . . situation. It was an airport, not the floor of the Democrat Convention. He wasn't actually IN a union hall.

Very nice apology. I think President Bush should acknowledge that by having a HUGE poster made up in full color of the thug and the little girl on her dad's back.

President should show the poster as evidence of out of control, mouth frothing psycho Rat violence, but immediately read the apology from the Union and acknowledge that at least this union doesn't condone mindless violence against toddlers.

That way everybody sees President Bush as acknowledging such "good" as exists in the "opponents". Nice contrast with the drooling, smirking thugs and all of America gets to see the face of the cowardly thug himself. He is also the face of the new Rat party.

Sorry, I wouldn't take my 3 year-old into an area with Democrat thugs. I know (I used to be one) how intolerant, emotional and violent some liberals can get when they are challenged--even by a little girl holding a Bush/Cheney sign.

Parlock is free to parent as he sees fit. I do not blame him for the incident. As for me, I wouldn't put my young child near Union thugs or Democrats who almost always use foul language, give obscene jestures and are prone to violent outbursts--even though they love to think of themselves as peaceful. Hah! Ask the Protest Warriors or those Republicans who got into a scuffle with some Dems just how "peace-loving" leftists really are. I wouldn't want my child in or near those kinds of situations. And it was a pro-Kerry, Union, etc. sort of situation. Nothing should have come of it, that's for sure. You and Parlock may trust Dems to be civil towards conservative children. I don't. Period.

I'm sure neither would he. You don't seem to understand the scene, that day. This was a few hundred people at an airport, not the floor of the Democrat Convention. He wasn't walking INTO a union hall. And there were police around, which goes to my complaint, secret service etc.

In other words, you may disagree with him, and I can understand that. But don't start going out on the limb, as I think Beck did, and call him a bad father, or the mother a bad mother. I don't know if that's what you mean. But don't.

No, no, no, it's obvious Parlock is NOT a bad father. It's just some of us have less confidence in our fellow (leftist) man than Parlock most assuredly did that day and we wouldn't want our kids exposed to jerks like that Union painter guy. I agree with Parlock that it was a good lesson for his more mature eleven-year-old son whom I doubt will ever stray from conservatism after experiencing first-hand how idiot liberals behave as well as the moronic "conspiracy theories," excuses, and justifications other liberals who weren't there are now using to defend the situation!

I sure hope and pray that the main jerk who tore the sign from that poor little girl gets named and exposed. Same with the other "mob mentality" cretins who joined in. Leftists can be a dangerous bunch when things don't go their way. They are scum. I am glad that I left the Left behind...
