No it's not a Hinckley, it's a Little Harbor 42.

Based on the hull number as listed at Vessel documentation services

Hinckley hand-crafts top-of-the-line fully custom craft for the "Right People" of the East Coast."

Unlike the CBS documents, this MUST have been falsified.
You claim this is Kerry's ship...
but it's NOT SINKING!

From Wikipedia:
Scaramouche is a historical novel by Rafael Sabatini, originally published in 1921 and subsequently adapted into a play by Barbara Field and into feature film versions in 1923 and 1952. It is a romantic adventure and follows the story of a young aristocrat during the French Revolution. His successive endeavors as a lawyer, politician, actor, lover, and buffoon lead his enemies to call him "Scaramouche" (the clown in the commedia dell'arte), but he impresses many with his his elegant orations and precision swordsmanship. This delightful classic overflows with memorable escapades. The later film version includes one of the best and one of the longest swashbuckling sword-fighting scenes ever filmed.

The novel has a memorable start: (BOOK I: THE ROBE, CHAPTER I, 'THE REPUBLICAN') "He was born with a gift of laughter and a sense that the world was mad. And that was all his patrimony. His very paternity was obscure, although the village of Gavrillac had long since dispelled the cloud of mystery that hung about it."

Trivia
The rock group Queen refers to Scaramouche in its popular song, Bohemian Rhapsody.

The Democratic candidate for the 2004 US presidential election, Senator John Kerry, named his yacht Scaramouche.

No it's not a Hinckley, it's a Little Harbor 42.

I think Ted Stevens designed "picnic boats" for Hinckley and of course Little Harbor.

It is a Hinckley Talaria 42, if my memory serves. It costs about $650k base, probably a hair under a million fully equipped. It's built to extremely high standards of quality craftsmanship.

Hinckley makes a beautiful boat. If you want top quality it's one of the best choices. But the company is also a bit of a New England snob institution. This is probably why he's hiding the poor thing in Rhode Island. His campaign might not be able to survive him being caught using it.

For the really curious among you, this Yachtworld.com listing shows a similar yacht selling for $425k, which is just a couple of thousand dollars less than what I paid for my house. As you can see, it's an absolutely stunning product, but not something you want to buy if you want to look like a Man of the People.

Personally, I'm not sure if he wouldn't have been better off admitting he was a New England aristocrat. He might actually get more positive press by having events in his yacht and his expensive homes instead of all those phony, vaguely humiliating photo-ops. I don't think people expect their President to be a poor man of the people; they expect him to be a leader.

He would look more a leader as an aristocrat than a faux commoner.

Thoughts?

D

I meant Ted Hood. Little Harbor and Hinckley are both owned by Hinckley Yacht Holdings.

That boat is a metaphor for his campaign...Up on blocks, going nowhere.

And let's not forget . . . French-sounding.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but as many FReepers know, 'scaramouche' is French for 'skirmish.'

I bet Teddy wishes he had one of those back in the 60's. He would not have had to waste a perfectly good car.

And let's not forget . . . French-sounding.

Too bad it's not The Scarlet Pimpernel.

"They seek him here, they seek him there.
Those Frenchmen seek him everywhere.
Is he in Heaven? - Is he in hell?
That damned annoying Pimpernel."

Sandy.....how bout a pic!

New rule...every post about or from Howie's show must include Sandy pic. (add to Malkin and Coulter)

To be strictly enforced.
