Brooklyn, NY New York City investment banker Steven J. Shaw recently announced his intent to challenge New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg for the Republican nomination in September 2005. Shaw, a resident of the Park Slope neighborhood in Brooklyn, plans to challenge the Mayor on his record of tax hikes and his inability to create jobs and grow the economy.
I am running for mayor because I could not stand by and let our city continue to endure what the Bloomberg administration has caused: skyrocketing taxes, a hostile business environment, an underperforming economy, and misplaced priorities, Shaw said. He continued, New Yorks budget is 5 times the combined budgets of Chicago and Los Angeles. We spend far too much and, in the end, New Yorks working families and businesses bear the burden of these costs. New York City needs significant budget and tax reform so we can put money back in the hands of New Yorkers and so both small and large businesses want to make New York home once again.
Throughout my campaign, I will show New Yorkers that I am the candidate who best understands the problems they face and that I have the best solutions to address their problems. I want to help New Yorkers realize their dreams, whether it be sending their kids to college, owning a home, or just providing for their families. Under Mayor Bloomberg, these goals have been put out of the reach of many families, as he takes every penny he can in taxes, fines, and fees and has failed to create one net private-sector job since June 2002. We need new leadership to enable New Yorkers to build better lives for themselves and their families, Shaw said.
Shaw, who recently filed with the New York City Board of Elections and Campaign Finance Board, has been busy raising money and has launched a website, www.shawformayor.com, to share his vision for the City and to promote his candidacy. He also placed an ad in financial newspapers highlighting Mayor Bloombergs record on taxes, jobs and the economy. Shaw says that the support he has received so far is very encouraging and he looks forward to getting out and talking with voters about the issues.
Whip his ass, Steven J. Shaw.
Bloomie has to go!
If I lived in NYC I'd vote for you - anything to get rind of that RINO Bloomberg.
Bump again. Come on, Freepers. Work with this guy. That rat Bloomie has to be exterminated in the voting booth.
Welcome aboard Steven Shaw!
I live in the other end of the state, just outside of buffalo.
Allow me to post a pic of you in my website.

Hope you can pull it off.
bump to this!!!
SMOKING POLICY
My Position
New Yorks mayor must be a mayor for all of New Yorks people smokers included. I will seek a compromise to the smoking ban where approximately 30% of our Citys bars will permit smoking, so long as they install City-approved air purification systems. I will reduce the tax on cigarettes, as I want New Yorkers to buy their cigarettes from New York City merchants not an Indian reservation nor on the black market. I believe in a very limited role of government and, therefore, I will recognize that it is an individuals choice whether or not to smoke, and I will not use government as a mechanism to make this decision for people.
Excellent!!
But why not let 100% of property owners decide if they want smoking or not? If you go for only 30% the other 70% who are left out will oppose it.
Because of Pataki's statewide smoking ban.
The state ban allows for exemptions such as this, the city ban does not.
ping
Taxberg should be sunk; if he is the Republican candidate, I will be voting for the Rats.
I live in NYC, Queens, and when Bloomberg was running, I went to get my mail one day and found someone had sent me a videotape. Guess who from? Bloomberg. This guy actually paid to have videotapes sent to just about every resident of NYC, I couldn`t believe it. I popped it into the VCR and it was a 15 minute infomercial on why he should be Mayor. Can you imagine the cost of that? Just making the copies alone must have cost a fortune, never mind the postage. I still have it too.
Good luck.
If I lived in Nw York you would have my vote. Good luck, kick his commie butt.
The primary is September 2005, with the general election in November '05. I am currently in the process of raising money and getting the word out about my campaign.
Well, all my best to you. Someone has to get that guy out of office. He is a disgrace to New York City.
Do you know Rudy?
I recommend that you spend alot of time working voters in the outer boroughs who REALLY hate Blunderberg for his property tax and put-the-naybahhood-tavern-out-of-business law. Remember that there are alot of Republican primary voters in places like Throggs Neck, Country Club, Glendale, Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Staten Island who are just waiting for someone such as yourself to come along and challenge Mikey. Also, try and register and reach out to groups of people that have been traditionally ignored by both parties. I have in mind the Asians in Queens and Brooklyn and the South Americans in northern Queens who tend to be more socially conservative then other Latinos and small business owners to boot. This will serve to help you in the general as well when you face the likes of Freddy Ferrer or Bill Thompson.
Of course, I am a management consultant, not a polticial consultant, so you can take my advice with a grain of salt. NY Freepers, do you have any suggestions?
