DNC TO LAUNCH FRESH ATTACK ON BUSH GUARD DUTY: WILL RAISE QUESTIONS ABOUT 1978 CAMPAIGN LIT
**Exclusive**
Faster than a CBS eye can blink, dogged Dems are set to take to the airwaves anew hoping to keep questions about President Bush's National Guard duty in play, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Candidate Kerry apparently has rejected former President Clinton's advice not to get further locked in a 2004 Vietnam quagmire.
"George W. Bush's campaign literature claimed that he 'served in the U.S. Air Force.' The only problem? He didn't," slams a new DNC press release set for distribution.
Dems will attempt to increase the heat on Bush ahead of his planned Tuesday address before The National Guard Association gathering in Las Vegas.
In 2000, Bush opened his National Guard Association speech: "General, I am reporting for duty."
MORE
Kerry plans to speak to the group on Thursday, but he personally hold back questioning Bush's service, sources explain.
The coordinated nationwide effort this week by the DNC has been code-named "Project Fortunate Son."
"George Bush has a clear pattern of lying about his military service," DNC Communications Director Jano Cabrera blasts in the new release. "From 1978 to the present day, George Bush has refused to tell voters the truth about his service. It's time for the President to come clean."
"Flyers distributed to Texas voters during Bush's failed Congressional race say 'he served in the U.S. Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard.' But according to Air Force officials, Air National Guardsmen are not counted as members of the active-duty Air Force."

"is anyone else tired of hearing about swift boats and typewriters?"I think it's just you and probably Dan Rather. You, of course, have the option of not reading threads and posts on those topics. Dan will be hearing about it for some time whether he wants to or not.
"both of these political parties are getting on my nerves"You could always drop a dime on Ed and Terry over at the national committees. Once they've heard about your nervous condition, I'm sure they'll tone things down for you.

Senator Kerry's campaign is essentially looking like this nowadays:
It's either that or Baghdad Bob is running the campaign.
( thinking about the Kerry campaign nowadays)

How long can you beat a dead horse! You think they would be running, not walking, from this subject fast. Let them keep beating it. They'll go nowhere.
To: Crazieman
These guys really do have a death wish. I think they've lost all contact with reality.

I have O'Neill on my TIVO box but have not viewed it yet. The original reference to sleepwalking was, as the original poster correctly pointed out, not in "Unfit for Command, it was in a subsequent news item.
But FreeRepublic never sleeps, and we never miss a point.

Kinda like deja vu all over again, huh?
Think this one's going to exit on an opus or a heave-ho?

They are going on about some Army poof retired colonel lechliter saying he concludes Bush never completed duty.
I guess it's based on the fake docs too. It's all over google.
Who is this guy? I can't find dirt on him.
To: silverleaf
THIS is going to cost Bush the election. This is serious.

If this is the best that the DNC can come up with, they are going to be in a world of hurt come debate time.
Kerry was AWOL 76% of the time for public meetings in the many years he was Senate Intelligence committee. This is 100 times worse than someone skipping a couple of National Guard drills, but making it up later. Kerry was responsible for making decisions to protect every single person (your children, your husband, your wife, mother, father, family, friends) in the entire country, and he was AWOL.
Imagine every single Republician spokesperson asking...
1. Why did Kerry only attend only 11 or 49 hearings?
2. What was he doing that was more important than our national security and public safety on all these occasions?
3. Kerry should immediately release his attendence records for the private meetings [which Hannity has implied is worse]? The public have the right to know his record.
4. Why did he want to cut the intelligence budget by 6 Billion dollars?
5. Why was Kerry absent from every single congressional hearing for the full year after the first WTC attacks?
6. Especially since Kerry missed so many meetings, does he feel any responsibility for the intelligence failures identified by the 911 Commission?
To: jveritas
I agree on the incompetence of the Kerry campaign. And the smear campaign could even help Bush.
I think it's wise, however, to act as if every negative story at this point is a threat to Bush's reelection.

Let's see if I've got this article right. Kerry is full of shiite regarding his military service and the DNC is calling Bush a liar regarding his service in the Texas ANG? (i.e., they are accusing the GOP of what THEY are doing). Seems to me that Bush has ignored his own service - except to occasionally answer assinine charges/inquires from the media and the 'RATS. He's even said Kerry has served honorably. One would think - when listening to the 'RATS - that it was Bush making all the noise about Kerry's service.

read on to the other 700 posts. This has ALREADY been debunked. By the DNC standard, kerry never served in the navy.
This story is as dead as the forged CBS Docs.
To: R. Scott
Nope. Campenni, who flew w/Bush &
is a very impressive gentleman, told Fox's Jim Angle that physicals were to insure basic pilot health & back then there was no routine drug testing component. Only if they saw evidence of drug or alcohol abuse, affecting ability to function, in some individual, would they even have thought of such a thing.
