IN MEMORIAM, SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
One of my websites ^ | September 11, 2001 | Steve Golding and Cacique

Posted on 09/10/2004 7:18:58 PM PDT by Cacique

On September 11, 2001 our nation was attacked. Like many New Yorkers Steve Golding lost a friend in the World Trace Center attack. He created a flash video that became one of the most watched videos on the internet. I was webmaster for WABC radio host Steve Malzberg at the time and contacted Steve Golding to see if we could run the video from our website. It was the most requested video that we had on the site.

It is appropriate that on this anniversary I link to it again so that we can be reminded what this anniversary is all about. Why our friends, neighbors and relatives who serve in our armed forces are sacrificing their lives. It must also serve as a reminder why we must mnake the right choice on November 2, 2004. Too many of my fellow New Yorkers have forgotten or at least they have become complacent, thinking we can negotiate with evil. We cannot.

I am linking to the video so that we can remind ourselves of that day and also so that some newbies to this site who have never seen it may have the opportunity to view it.

You can view the video by clicking on the link below, a new window will pop up. It is a large file (7 megs) so please be patient.

Steve Golding's Video

Steve Golding is also a member of Rolling Thunder and the webmaster of http://www.powforum.org

After the attack and during the recovery a memorial light was put in place. Two powerful spotlights facing the sky where the towers stood. The following shots were taken by me from pier 58 in Brooklyn on April 13, 2002 one day before the lights were switched off. It was also my 50th birthday.

Today I celebrate the extra 8.5 years of life that New Yorkers were given, due to the Mohammadmen's and Saddam's bad luck.

That was the 8.5 years between Feb 26, 1993, and September 11, 2001.

I remember a time when TV would sign off with The National Anthem and begin it's programming the same way. Then the liberals got hold of the networks and took that away. For those of you too young to remember rent Poltergeist......it's in the begining.

Cacique,

Thank you for creating this wonderful video. I have posted a link to this video from other websites, not realizing it was yours. Others have too. Hopefully that is OK.

I will never forget. I still remember virtually every minute of that day as if it was yesterday. Everyone has their 9/11/01 story. I have never shared mine publicly, only with friends. I would like to share one small part of that day with everyone, because it is very telling.

I was in Chicago on business, staying at the Fairmount hotel, downtown, near E. Wacker Drive. The occasion was our industry's annual major convention at McCormick Place. It was, as in NYC, a picture perfect beautiful day.

I was having breakfast at 7:00 a.m. CST with a VP from our company whom I had never met before. He is an Israeli who lives in Israel. I had to be at McCormick by 8:00am so we only had 30 minutes. We finished up and got in a cab at 7:35 or so. Our conversation started about the weather and then went something like this...

[me]"Have you been to Chicago before?"
[him]"Yes, the last time I was here, the Bulls had just won the championship"
[me]"I just read in the newspaper this morning that Michael Jordan may come back and play again, maybe for the Bulls"
He then says..."Isn't it amazing, in your country, the headlines are about Michael Jordan and sports and things like that. In my country, the headlines are about terrorists and bombings almost everyday. You Americans never have to worry about things like that!"
[me]"Yes, and I thank God that we don't".

Of course, these words were all being spoken at the exact moment that the first plane was about to fly into the WTC. The rest, as the saying goes, is history.

NEVER FORGET! TEACH YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT 9/11/01!

Thank you for the ping. Words fail me, again, when I see this: both the horror of the terrorist murders, and the beautiful spirits and love of Americans for the fallen, and finally, the resolve to achieve justice.

Thanks.

Way to go, Watery Tart...

Yep... I always tell people who are appalled at Abu Graib that I'll take panties over my head then a be-heading anyday.

LOL! I want to say, "Watery Tart reporting for duty," but it now wants to be typed as "doody."

sKerry has ruined that phrase forever. I have to stop reading accounts of the DNC convention....

where do I sign up... I can think of things far worse then panties on the head. Like wraping a terrorist up in some nice bacon and other pork products and letting them sit out in the desert and let the birds of pray do what they may.

Ok I will admit that may be a bit cruel, but 3 years on. I don't harbor much good will toward the religion of peace tha has failed to condemn any of the terrorist acts. Today is not only a day for remembrence of our dead, but it is also a day or resolve. A day that every year Americans regardless of political lean, should resolve to never let this happen again.

Thank you for the thread. THAT day I was driving from Cleveland Ohio to Raleigh NC. Had radio on & it was the quickest trip.. I didn't yawn etc whole way . Every stop for gas/coffee; people were solemn, crying.

We were all frightened & wondered what was next.

Today, patriots day, across nation Protest Warriors are sponsoring National March Against Terror marches. Our Cleveland one is in Lakewood, Oh. (just w of downtown & on lake)

Thank the Lord GWB was POTUS. This AM on our normally conservative talk show radio station (has Glenn,Rush etc) was a liberal (gentle but lib) spewing & responding to calls in this poor us, lead astray by war monger etc...

Yuk.

You all have a great weekend & poignant day of remembrance. Lets all be extra kind to those who don't earn or deserve it. Lets wear our GWB buttons, shirts, hats proudly .

Thanks for the thread and the ping.

Here is a link to a video, Mute Witness, that someone e-mailed to me. This concentrates more on the reaction of the other countries of the world after 9/11. Too bad that some of these countries didn't stand with us for long. Thank God for the allies that HAVE been there for us.

Yeah, it's true.

I only heard from my sister about my cousin Tommy-works for the FDNY in Brownsville-who was working at Ground Zero, when it was still considered a "rescue" mission.

Thank you Misty for the ping.
Cacique...........thank you for this beautiful tribute.
I had just arrived at work when a co-worker ran in and said "a plane" had hit one of the towers. For most of us a small airplane first came to mind and we we were concerned for the pilot and any passengers. Then we put on the radio to see what had happened. When the second plane hit we knew..........this was no accident. This was deliberate. Some people were crying and others were silent. A few hours later we were all sent home........no work was ever going to be accomplished that day.
I was watching the news coverage..........numb, with horror and grief. All those people, all those poor people was all that I could say.
I knew one person who gave his life that day........Chief Peter Ganci. Hardly a day goes by that I don't think of him. I live on Long Island. Reminders are everywhere.........
Walking thru my living room yesterday........a TV show was on showing two people celebrating their engagement, at a pier on the Jersey side with the skyline behind them.........But the Towers were gone.
Going through old pictures for my daughters wedding.....finding pictures of trips we took.....finding pictures of the Towers. Remembering being in the Towers... Watching any news broadcast on any night, seeing a fireman or a policeman brings back Sept. 11th.
Driving on the Garden State Pkwy, and seeing flags on every overpass. Driving around town and seeing flags on cars. In almost every case, these are NEW flags, being replaced as they wear out.
We have not forgotten. We will never forget!
Thank you again for starting this thread.
God Bless all who lost their lives and their families. God Bless our President. God Bless the United States of America.

And the horror of watching it become a "rescue" mission not so much.

Gotta go for a while. Stay safe!

Savage sugested the coliseum treatment. Put them on the floor of a coliseum with a hungry, angry 400 lb. boar and let nature take its course.

I'm prepared today to get really sick of the weeping and wailing. There is a time for everything under the sun. A time for peace, a time for mourning, and a time for war. I want to hear the bees buzzing. Let's roll.
