James Rosen just reported that the Pentagon questions the use of a PO Box on a memo, and that the PO Box may never have been used by that unit saying it seems highly unlikely that they would have PO Box containing sequential numbers. Standard military practice has always been to place the actual physical address on the letter head.

My business street address uses the same zip code as my PO Box.

This is probably where the forger got the address. While you might run the PO Box as the address for a letter being sent to an individual, if Colonel Killian was mocking the letterhead he would have followed the standards. The forger was probably using what he thought was a good document to make it look better. Finding this address on an official document doesn't mean it isn't part of the evidence.

I just did a search on the USPS zip code page and it came back that there is no p o box with the # 234567 in Houston. Of course, I guess there might have been back then?

P.S. In 1972 the zip codes in major cities were different than they are now -- they've had to add some.

hmmmm, that is something I always do when writing a draft, I use obvious bogus numbers like 12345 as a reminder that I need to get the correct number before publishing. Things a looking very bad for Dan, very very bad.

The more inconsistencies I read about the documents, the more it seems the providers of said documents wanted them to be quickly exposed as fakes.

Which leads to all sorts of questions.

As I said, it only "confirms" that this adress may have been valid.

During my time in the military (80's) it was not common to use PO boxes, nor was it common to write to a service member at his private adress (as in the case of the "order" to appear for a flight physical).

Here is what happened on that, I bet.

The drafters of the forged document put in that address as a "placeholder" because they were dying to get to the letter. Then they forgot to put in a "real" forged address....no one else on the drafting / forgery committee ever looked at it again.

The fault for this goes to the ding dong who typed it and decided to put that issue off until later.

The th would not have been smaller. You had to roll the paten (carriage) to superscript, but it did not make the letters smaller,just raised where you were able to slide the paten.

Again, I am fairly convinced that these docs were forged. All I need to do is look at the source BUT the Executive was perfectly capable of typing a superscript if ordered with that key. No rolling of the platen would be necessary.

Regarding the line spacing, that is suspect. I doubt that the typewriter would have identical line spacing compared to the word processed version. Still, I think that other indicators of forgery are stronger then the typography..

As stated, exceptions exists. In a big city, however, like Houston, however, I (and the postman I talked to) thought it would be unlikely.

It's not like the memo had dead giveaway info on it, like CC to Johnny Johnson in Johnson City, Texas or anything. ;)

Having been in the military for 30+ years, one thing I should have noticed the address too. Most installations use the physical street address. My installation has both in unofficial headings, but ONLY the street address in official memos.

Ladies and Gentlemen, if all this holds up then there can be no doubt that the person who would use a font on a document dated 25 years before the font was created, or who would use numbers in sequence for a phony PO box has got to be the stupidest person ever placed on God's green Earth. Even dumber than my brother-in-law, and that's saying a lot.
