COLCHESTER, Conn. -- A church in Colchester was leveled by an explosion Friday morning. St. Mary's Ukrainian Church on Route 16, also known as Linwood Ave., was flattened by the explosion just before 7 a.m., according to state police. State police spokesman, Sgt. J. Paul Vance, said the area had been cordoned off and the highway was shut down in both directions. Vance said there was no initial report of injuries and there was no immediate indication of what caused the explosion. The state fire marshal was called to the scene as well utility company crews.

I immediately thought of Russia when they said it was a Ukrainian church, too. I remember Putin said something about the Ukraine when he spoke after the Beslan atrocity.
Did you specifically choose the word imploded, or did you hear this??
My sister told me that the steeple is normally visible from the road, it is gone, I guess they arent kidding, the building is flattened!
What's "TROP" stand for? Something to do with terrorists no doubt.
State Police spokesman has stated there is no gas service to this area. There was a 50 gallon propane tank in the building, but State Police not sure if that was the source of the explosion. Would a 50 gallon tank destroy a building like this?

TROP = The Religion of Peace (tm)
"The Religion Of Peace."
If you can crack an LP container, you can create a very healthy combustion rate.
I remember reports of a multi-story LP tank on the beach east of Kuwait City during recon for a possible marine landing in the ground phase of Operation Desert Storm.
The phrase used was "the nuke on the beach".
Does anyone know how far back the police are keeping everyone? Can you deduce by the distance if they fear other explosions?
The relion of peace.
The linked article says Ukrainian Catholic and, hey, we know our media outlets never get the details wrong.
Yeah that is what I thought...I lived in Connecticut..went to High School there and lived there until 1990-I don't know anyone who had natural gas...mostly oil and/or propane.
I can not believe a propane tank-probably used for cooking. Mostly heating oil is used for heat...could cause this type of damage. Not to mention such tanks are usually outside buildings-not in the buildings- often buried in Connectiuct. Also, Propane has a definite smell-can't mistake it for any other type of gas-very suspicious.
.....Before another church burns.....
Latest news report says nothing to indicate wrongdoing. Remains of propane tank in the ruins but authorities cannot state that propane was the cause of the explosion. This happened four hours ago. It takes four hours to determine the cause? Must be.
bump
I don't suppose they would admit it if it was foul play..sigh...I sure hope it was not terrorist related. But, a bomb would blow up a propane tank too.

If it was "TROP", they thought the big day was Friday. Thank God there was no one in the church.
