CBSNEWS LAUNCHES INTERNAL INVESTIGATION AFTER SUSPICIOUS BUSH DOCS AIRED
**Exclusive**
CBS NEWS executives have launched an internal investigation into whether its premiere news program 60 MINUTES aired fabricated documents relating to Bush's National Guard service, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
"The reputation and integrity of the entire news division is at stake, if we are in error, it will be corrected," a top CBS source explained late Thursday.
The source, who asked not to be named, described CBSNEWS anchor and 60 MINUTES correspondent Dan Rather as being privately "shell-shocked" by the increasingly likelihood that the documents in question were fraudulent.
Rather, who anchored the segment presenting new information on the president's military service, will personally correct the record on-air, if need be, the source explained from New York.

Well the dems squandered a lot of political capital over what - Bush National Guard stuff. What a waste for them. If they were going to forge something you'd think it would be for a real scandal.
Was thinking about this. A Fed. crime is committed by forging Fed. document(s). And should a criminal investigation take place without a doubt Dan will be called to testify. Which of course leads to the age old claim that the MSM is ammune from such annoying interference...
Even if they correct it, how much publicity will be given the correction? I can't see the other co-conspirators (ABC and the gang) doing anything with it. And the newspapers, if anything it will be buried as a small note deep in section A.
They are SHELLSHOCKED by the increasing liklihood that they will become proven liars!
I agree completely...the apology will be done (if at all) on Saturday, probably not by Dan Blather, but by the weekend anchor and in between a "lifestyles" and a "your health" story. And then it will be over. Sorry if I sound a little jaded, but what do we really expect?
I would BET that Rather knew these documents were FAKE, but went ahead
anyway, because he hates Bush. Rather is a real jerk.I hope that See BS fires Gunga Dan.
I'm not holding my breath, though.
IF THIS ISN'T ALREADY WELL UNDER WAY, IT IS TIME TO ADVOCATE WITH GREAT GUSTO FOR THE DOWNFALL OF THE DANMEISTER.
MR. RATHER, YOUR TIME IS UP.
I'm sending snail mail, harder to ignore/delete than e-mail:

Dear Mr. Redstone,
My high school newspaper did a better job of checking facts.
Maybe, just maybe, it's time for Dan Rather to retire gracefully.
Regards,
Why can't I just hit multiple returns???

LOL! I'll meet you on the Live Election Results Thread!! We can get happily soused together along with a bunch of other Freeper friends!
bump!
CBS will conclude they were right but the docuemnts lied.
Rush played a short clip of Blather a little bit ago in which he said that
he knows the story is true otherwise they wouldn't have run it. Sheesh! This from the man that said .....
Media Research Center:
Dan Rather on Bill Clinton:
"I think hes an honest man."OReilly: "I want to ask you flat out, do you think President Clintons an honest man?"
Rather: "Yes, I think hes an honest man."
OReilly: "Do you, really?"
Rather: "I do."
OReilly: "Even though he lied to Jim Lehrers face about the Lewinsky case?"
Rather: "Who among us has not lied about something?"
OReilly: "Well, I didnt lie to anybodys face on national television. I dont think you have, have you?"
Rather: "I dont think I ever have. I hope I never have. But, look, its one thing-"
OReilly, jumping in: "How can you say hes an honest guy then?"
Rather: "Well, because I think he is. I think at core hes an honest person. I know that you have a different view. I know that you consider it sort of astonishing anybody would say so, but I think you can be an honest person and lie about any number of things."
OReilly: "Really?!?"
Rather: "Yeah, I do."
OReilly: "See, I cant. I want my government to be honest across-the-board. I dont want people lying."
LoL's! That's shocking, since THAT has never been tried before!
I hope they keep it up, for it will only bolster Bush in the polls! IMHO
Rather is one angry white man. I think the "Panic Room" is full of the Rather-types and will do anything at this point! This is probably just the beginning.
For one thing, MSNBC! has produced a former FBI document analyst who went on record as 100 percent certain of forgery.
Rather may survive for a few months, but the Guard issue now belongs to Bush.
' . . . the night before we put him out to pasture.'
