CBSNEWS LAUNCHES INTERNAL INVESTIGATION AFTER SUSPICIOUS BUSH DOCS AIRED
**Exclusive**
CBS NEWS executives have launched an internal investigation into whether its premiere news program 60 MINUTES aired fabricated documents relating to Bush's National Guard service, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
"The reputation and integrity of the entire news division is at stake, if we are in error, it will be corrected," a top CBS source explained late Thursday.
The source, who asked not to be named, described CBSNEWS anchor and 60 MINUTES correspondent Dan Rather as being privately "shell-shocked" by the increasingly likelihood that the documents in question were fraudulent.
Rather, who anchored the segment presenting new information on the president's military service, will personally correct the record on-air, if need be, the source explained from New York.

Mark it down: Sept. 9, 2004, the day that the Old Media suffered its mortal wound. Long live the New Media.
There's a thought. Just when the Dem sharks thought the water was chummed for them, they take pause to think "Hey...maybe these guys have been misunderestimated again...and we're the ones that might not survive a bloodbath.
Maybe, but just maybe Danny boy got them from a high placed DNC source and didn't vet them at all. Old Media is arrogant...they sneer at new media. I'm sure it never crossed Danny's mind that new media would dare to contradict him...Do you know who he is (sarcasm)? Maybe he did know they were forgeries, but figured no one would question him. The media got away with this stuff for many years...I don't think they understand the power of the blogs yet.
CBS has been trying to retire Rather for several years now. This might just give them the excuse to push the ejector seat button in his anchor's chair.
Tomorrow, I expect to see at least ONE GOP senator come out on the floor and tear Tom Harkin a new a**hole. Zell would do it, but I want a Republican!
It happened on President Bush's watch!
My dream is that Michael Moore is the one who forged these documents and he gets outed for it.
That's funny. But probably true. They were probably handed to CBS by someone who knew they would run with the story without question.
Ok, which freeper pulled that off? Fess up and share the wealth.
Good tag line anyway, Howlin.
Goes on the screensaver when I get in the office.
Not bad...actually, pretty good....keep drinking...
Trust me Rush being going NUTSSS on this
Rack ittt
This is like fresh meat for Talk radio
The document is a log of some sort. Different entries were made on different dates probably by different people using different typewriters.
I was a typist for a major corporation for 20 years, much of them spent using Selectric typewriters. The entry on Line 2 looks more like a smudge (probably from Liquid Paper) than superscript.
The forged documents is one issue. But if it turns out there was no document's expert ... then I think a supernova will happen at 60 Minutes.
On the other hand, document forgery for the purpose of influencing the outcome of a presidential election should receive the severest punishment. Twenty years minimum.
I was extrapolatin' 8<)
And typin' as fast as I could.
Actually, I started typing that comment at reply number 88. It was 95 when the "reply" window came up.
And I didn't even bother spell-checking.
If what happened today causes these blatherskites to look over their shoulder, on every story, we will have succeeded.
As you might guess, an apology rings hollow to me. I want them off their high horse, discredited and humiliated. The same thing I want to see happen to John F. Kerry; shunned from public life, and a legacy summed up in one word, "Traitor."
cbs won't say.
But both Killian's son and widow have come out and said they are bogus. His son said CBS did not get the documents from the family.
Which means CBS is busted on the "personal files" line.
The docs in question are not from the military. And guys don't keep "personal files" in a military office. If killian had really posted that stuff...it would have been copied to the AF and there records guys.
The docs in question are very unprofessional looking.
It could have been career threatening for Kilian to keep that stuff in a file at his office. Those files are property of the DoD...they are NEVER personal.
AND the bogus docs contradict official military docs that Kilian had written.
